April 18, 201610 yr What gets me is the short sightedness at the club - who the hell thinks Rahman is better than Ake or Ryan Bertrand - both would perform better at left back. Who gave Christensen a 2 year loan deal to Monchengladbach - he would walk straight into the team at the moment. Oscar - a better player than Mata! Why did we buy Pedro - he looks completely lost - £22m wasted. De Bruyne has come back to haunt us. Pato and Falcao better than Lukaku - don't make me laugh. Courtois better than Cech! Who is answerable to these decisions? I would argue Courtois is better than Cech, he's not exactly been setting the league alight at Arsenal this season. In fact he's made many mistakes. Cech was never the same goalkeeper in recent years often watching shots go past him. Last year Courtois was fantastic and no one can deny that. He's having a bad season just like the rest of this shi**y squad. He's 23 and has years left to improve and return to form. If we let him go it'll be the whole De Bruyne/Lukaku argument 5 years down the line when he's winning the Champions league in Spain.
April 18, 201610 yr I think Courtois has some rebuilding of his reputation to do. Yes, it hasn't helped that we haven't defended properly for most of this season but his decision making has been questionable and despite his age, he's a very experienced keeper, with top coaches around him. Would I have preferred Cech in goal this season? Unquestionably yes. Does that mean Courtois is a bad keeper? No. But he has a long way to go yet, and it would undoubtedly come back to haunt us (again) if we allowed him to leave. Edited April 18, 201610 yr by Elliott
April 18, 201610 yr I hope Chelsea rebuild the reputation soon, Elliott. My God! That was awful. Except the first twenty minutes. (But for me, Courtois was the best Chelsea player. Not the man of the match. That was noone.) Edited April 18, 201610 yr by Krc-fan
April 18, 201610 yr when you have 40 odd thousand people in front of you who have given up their time and money to watch you play for a team that many of them love with a crazy demented passion, nothing to play for should not even come in to it, f**king spoilt w**kers
April 18, 201610 yr Cech's experience probably would have helped him in not getting send off in the 2 incidents Courtois had this season. However he wouldn't have done much better, without JT/Zouma plus out of form fullbacks and no DM, any GK would have struggled. Let's not use the De Gea case again, he actually had good defenders ahead of him this season.
April 19, 201610 yr when you have 40 odd thousand people in front of you who have given up their time and money to watch you play for a team that many of them love with a crazy demented passion, nothing to play for should not even come in to it, f**king spoilt w**kers Spot on, a poster said what did we expect? Maybe some passion, a bit of fight, some energy, the players feel there's nothing to play for, so yet again they've downed tools, though there is the matter of pride to play for. It's shocking, majority of them should be sacked, if there wasn't money to be made off of them. It's easy to say we have too many foreign players, which we probably do, no British backbone, which we did have in 05, but we didn't have much of a British backbone when Luca was manager, difference is those players really gave a toss, maybe it's the state of football or our high expectations that cause the bad attitude of the players.

The Palace players must have been exhausted after such an emotionally intense season, and they really had nothing to play for. The difference is that those players knew that playing in the Premier League is a privilege and a luxury that should be appreciated. Our players haven't had to struggle in the lower leagues. They know that there are other top tier clubs willing to offer a contract no matter how piss poor their attitude. They don't appreciate how good they have it. To be fair, the majority of PL players are closer in attitude to our lads than to the players on promoted teams. And as well the fans of established PL clubs don't appreciate it either. The fans at promoted clubs are amazing. Edited April 19, 201610 yr by offside
April 19, 201610 yr We call it modern football, Floyd25. Unfortunately. And not only in Chelsea. In that case, a good inspiring manager and a good motivational background/dressroom can help.
