The former home of Scarborough F.C.The Athletic Ground, on Seamer Road Scarborough built in 1898.

It became ‘The McCain Stadium’ until Scarborough F.C. were dissolved in June 2007.

The site is now a Lidl Superstore.

Happily,Scarborough were rebounded as Scarborough Athletic F.C. Society Ltd and are a supporter owned club currently playing in the North East League.

Ravenscraig Stadium in Greenock. Played on it in the early 1980s.

Yes, just occasionally we did play on a grass pitch back then!

It was the venue for the first official Scotland v England’s women’s international football match in November 1972.

John Wark scores for Scotland against New Zealand at the 1982 World CupJohn Wark scoring one off his two goals for Scotland against New Zealand. World Cup Group Stage. Seville.on 15th June 1982. Scotland won 5-2.

They were 3-0 at half time. Dalglish and John Wark scoring and Scotland were seemingly cruising to victory.

However, this is Scotland in a World Cup tournament.

New Zealand scored two goals before the 65th minute! John Robertson and Steve Archibald then both scored and this eased the Scottish nerves

Goalscorers. Scotland . Dalglish 18, Wark 19, 32, Robertson 73, Archibald 79. New Zealand Sumner 54 and Wooddin 64.

Western Park, former home of Renfrew Juniors. My local Scottish Non League Side.

Renfrew played at Western Park from their formation in 1912 until 2014. The club moved to their new ground in 2015.

They moved literally 200 metres or so west to ‘New Western Park’ (not much thought went into that name!) 😀

‘The Bonnie Prince’,Charlie Cooke, played briefly as a teenager for Renfrew Juniors, before signing for Aberdeen.

A rare picture of one of the grass pitches in my old home town I played on as a youngster.

Rare, because it’s not pouring with rain and the pitch isn’t a sea of mud or almost waterlogged.

And, yes, of course we played on it in all three conditions!
