This was the first time the two sides met since the partition in the 1920s.

Sandy Jardine in a red Rangers change strip v Dundee at Ibrox in 1974,

What a great full back Sandy was. Him on one side and John Greig on the other. Two of the best full backs to come out of Scotland and at the same time there was Danny McGrain.

To have a stand named after him at Ibrox is a wonderful tribute to Jardine.

Found a book earlier this week.'The life of Davie Cooper. Scottish Football Hero' by Neil Drysdale.

Had completely forgotten I had it.

Davie Cooper would have been sensational in that team of 1983-84.

However he never wanted to leave his home area to play football.

Sandy Jardine and Danny McGrain

Two genuinely great Scottish full backs.

They played football far, far better than they sang, in the 1974 Scotland World Cup Finals Song !

Davie and Pat Nevin in the same side. What a sight that would have been. Opposition defences would have been run ragged. I don't think they played together for the Scotland team. I'll need to check.
