John Wark tells a story in his book related to Escape to Victory . back in Glasgow in the mid 1980s.

In the mid 1980s he was walking down one of the main streets in the centre of Glasgow.

When he was stopped by someone who asked for his autograph.

He happily signed his name and the person said with a smile : " Thank goodness you managed to escape John !"

Live games were exactly that back then.

Don't know where and when this photo was taken but the lady standing up doesn't look very happy. It looks like the lady next to her is telling her to sit down.

None of the men sitting around her are brave enough to do so !

Not an image but an episode from Ripping Yarns. A brilliant series and Golden Gordon is probably my favourite episode from Ripping Yarns. It tells of a man who is obsessed with his non-league local team despite poor performances. I'm sure that we can all relate to the highs and lows but we probably haven't gone as far as smashing up the lounge.

Remember being in Corfu when this was on, left my Mrs on beach while I went to Hotel bar to watch Ireland game, waste of time, decided couldn't be that bad again, so did same for Dutch game, left when Van Basten got his third, didn't bother with Russia game, stayed on beach thank God. Mind you made up for it Two years later when Italia 90 came round.

No worries mate. Said to be one of the best performances by a visiting team to Ibrox. Kempes was a fine player.
