England captain Ray Wilkins meets Scotland captain Graeme Souness ...Ray Wilkins: Every picture tells a story . . . | HeraldScotland

The two captains.

Ray Wilkins and Graeme Souness. England v Scotland 1986.

Two great midfield players.

Little did either know that Graeme Souness would be Ray Wilkins boss at Glasgow Rangers ay the end of the following year !

Second picture is I think at Hampden in May 1985 ?

England-Scotland matches throughout history - FIFA.com

Ray Kennedy and Bruce Rioch, England v Scotland, 4th June 1977, Wembley.

A great Scottish side and a wonderful result for them. I wish I'd been at that game. Made up for the England v Scotland game in 1975 where the former won 5-1. I was at that game with my Dad.

There is probably still a lot of Wembley turf in gardens in Scotland.

Top v Real Madrid in 1983 ECWC Final

Second Pic :v Davie Cooper of Rangers in 1979 League Cup Final.

Bottom picture: He's the No 3 'sorting out ' a Celtic fan, who'd run onto the pitch to attack Gordon Strachan !

It's debatable whether the Police were actually needed. Actually perhaps they were. but for that fans safety :shok::biggrin:

Not sure who the Real Madrid player is but I don't think he's going to win the argument with Doug. In the bottom picture I recognise Danny McGrain a fine full-back. I think the other Celtic player is Tommy Burns. Doug was sent off in the LCF for a clash with DJ. Rangers won 2-1 with goals from Bomber and Doddie. A fine Rangers team.

The BBC pundits for the England Scotland game

England v Scotalnd June 1996.

The BBC pundits pile into Gascoigne at half-time, with Jimmy Hill saying "he doesn't look physically right, he doesn't look emotionally right. Without him, the England team suffers". Alan Hansen, meanwhile, sings Scotland's praises, adding: "They have done really well. The only thing that was missing was a goal."

Changes | History | Club | Clyde Football Club

Clyde FC 1977

One of these players would eventually go and play for Barcelona !

Steve Archibald in the back row,

The one who looks as if the floodlights are growing out of his halr !!

I think the manager is Craig Brown who went on to manage the Scotland team in the nineties.
