November 17, 20169 yr As in beyond the assistant manager role he's already doing? Wouldn't blame him if he went, but I'd be disappointed. The equivalent role at Chelsea is a far, far bigger job with a far better chance of winning something. Edit: For what it's worth, based on his history, I think he's a very good guy to have around the England setup. It's just that my club-to-country bias is more skewed than Claudia Winkleman's fringe. November 17, 20169 yr It would leave a lampard/terry shaped hole in our back room team ;) I think holland is very well respected, it seems people are very keen to work with him, so im sure it would be a big loss for us. I agree with the above post that it would probably be a step down though.
November 17, 20169 yr McLaren combined his assistant role at Man.Utd with assistant for England and even combined his managerial role at Middlesbrough with assisting Sven on the national team. So why can't Holland combine both roles exactly? Furthermore, unless he is blindly patriotic, choosing the England role over Chelsea would be lunacy. Edited November 17, 20169 yr by Argo
November 18, 20169 yr Agree with the majority, can do both roles. When our players are on international duty our training ground it's like an old film with wind and tumble weed flying!! There is no one there to coach. Also he's not expected to go and watch games during the season and every week he comes into contact with potential and current players of the England squad.
November 18, 20169 yr you know who i would love as assistant coach, gianfranco zola or vialli. keep the italian connection, and maybe also bring in lampard as a coach to the youth.
