The season kicks off early for Rangers. 29th June home to Pogres in the first qualifying round of the Europa League. There's so much going on at Ibrox these days it's hard to keep track of it all. New signings, a new Director of Football and a farewell to Mike Ashley. All of this has to augur well for the future if Caixinha can make his new team tick it could be a very enjoyable season.

@carrickblueInteresting times at Ibrox. So good to see the back of Ashley. A horrible man and that's being polite. And with the new deal with Sports Direct. I saw a couple of pictures of inside and outside the megastore. Large queues and all the stock disappearing and the money going to the club.

Here's to doing it on the pitch as well. WATP

Wasn't the most emphatic win last night for Rangers but a win nonetheless and a few new players.

 

Hopefully they can make it into the groups (fingers crossed)

What an embarrassment. 

Question is, did last night's result usurp the defeat by Berwick as the worst ever? 

Luxembourg football must be on the up. Wonder if all their players had a full compliment of limbs?

I've been trying to avoid it all day.

The build up to the season has been so positive then that shambles last night has just sapped all that positive energy away.

Dorrans has signed and is to be announced tomorrow but we need much more I fear.

Fortunately I wasn't able to watch the game. By all accounts it was painful. As Chelsbear has written it was looking positive. 

 

Still Feeling meh about the whole thing not looking forward to the start of the season think its gonna take a while for this team to settle.

Right here we go again. I've no idea what to expect this season, could be good, could be a disaster. Not sure yet that Caixinha understands Scottish football but I'm willing to give the guy a chance. The squad looks stronger than last season but I feel we could struggle to score goals.

spot on; you just can't be sure which Rangers side is going to turn up. But it was never going to be easy and despite his quotes for the media, Pedro is only learning the Scottish game.

Closing the gap is important this year  

Rangers giving some thought to introducing safe standing at Ibrox. Will be interesting to see if it happens. Maybe turning the East and West Enclosures from seating to standing.

Well, it's come around quickly enough, another Old Firm encounter. I wouldn't bet against another mauling but a Rangers victory, would be so sweet. I fear it'll be a difficult game to watch as frankly I don't think Pedro is the right guy to put enough steel and spark into Rangers.

Let's hope the cavalry shows up in time...

Didn't watch yesterday's game as was out all day. I spoke to one of my Uncle's this morning. He watched the game and said that the 'Gers are still way behind Celtic. He said that there is no leadership on the pitch. We talked about that and agreed that Barry Ferguson was probably the last decent leader on the park. My Uncle has followed the 'Gers since the sixties and has seen some great 'Gers players and leaders in that time e.g. Greig, Gough and Butcher.

It's truly depressing. The gap is huge, they strolled around Ibrox like Real Madrid and we were like a bunch of wee lads trying to catch them. Your uncle is right there are no leaders on the pitch, I think Kenny Miller is about the only player who really understands the dynamics of the Old Firm. The guys we've brought in in recent seasons haven't a clue, Pedro hasn't a clue and it looks like there's no "Rangers" guys in the background who are instilling the right message. Games against them have to borrow from Bill Shankly always been more important than life and death - you can see the Celtic set up still sees it that way but the Rangers guys just look out of their depth. They seem to be in awe of them and that's just not good enough.

When will it end? I've no idea but I don't think it will be this season. What will it mean for Scottish football if they complete another unbeaten domestic season? I'm not sure either but the lack of competition has got to be very bad in the longer term.

We need more Scots and Ulstermen - guys who have grown up dreaming of pulling on the Rangers shirt and who are prepared to put everything on the line. If I was Dave King I would be seriously looking at the Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill as the next Rangers manager. What he is getting out of an average group of players is incredible and he has everyone at Northern Ireland pulling together towards the same goal. That's what we need at Ibrox.       

A much better performance and result tonight. And kept a clean sheet. Three good goals. The one from Dorrans was probably my favourite. Hopefully they'll keep the momentum going and start to understand what it means to play for the 'Gers.

Hard to know where to begin with any comment on Rangers but Pedro has gone, yesterday's performance at Hearts certainly looked better, we'd be lost without Kenny Miller.

Given all that has happened since August to be only 6 points behind Celtic seems a surprisingly positive position. Their lead is however only likely to grow. 

McInnes or McLeish seem to be the choices. I would be inclined to go with someone who knows the club inside and out at this stage.

Yes, it's been a crazy time at Ibrox. Didn't see the game against Hearts as was out but saw the goals. Three good goals. I noticed that Kyle Lafferty didn't celebrate after he scored for Hearts. 

Agree that someone who knows the club should be appointed. 

Big Kyle would apparently like another chance at Rangers - I think he's matured a lot since his first spell at Ibrox but he is an unusual striker in today's game and I don't know if he'd fit in with the current Rangers set up. He's not that popular with a lot of the Rangers support so I don't know how a return would go down. Ulster Bears would love it.

The next 3 games are all winnable. Thistle, Hamilton and Dundee.
