April 23, 20215 yr Club Announcement Rail seating installed A further upgrade to Stamford Bridge that we are pleased to announce is the installation of rail seating in the Matthew Harding Lower and Shed End Upper and Lower tiers. This change, which will be ready for the 2021/22 season subject to approval by the Sports Ground Safety Authority (SGSA) and its Safety Advisory Group (SAG), will enhance supporter safety by replacing the current seats in those sections of the stadium. The decision is the result of many months of consultation with the SGSA and Hammersmith and Fulham Council, as well as work with independent architects to find the optimum solution for Stamford Bridge. While the change will result in a loss of just over 500 seats in the areas concerned, we have decided to act now in order to be ready and prepared for any future government decision to introduce safe standing in Premier League stadia. Season ticket holders who wish to move seats from these areas will be able to make an application when the renewal period opens. Information on this renewal period will be communicated to season ticket holders over the coming weeks. We are excited to welcome you back to live football at a loud and improved Stamford Bridge next season! Rail seating/Safe standing, same difference. It should look something like this: Now all I need is the price of a plane ticket!
April 23, 20215 yr Now maybe all the people who want to sit down will bugger off to the appropriate stand. I wonder what’s happening with the old seats? Maybe they could flog me my old season ticket seat for charity or something? Edited April 23, 20215 yr by Munkworth

I would guess that because its taken out 500 normal seats but I dont think there is actual approval to use the semi standing areas as yet (they are just getting it ready) as its still currently under discussion, then once safe standing is approved the capacity will go back up
November 8, 20214 yr Will a match ticket to a standing area come with some strapping young men to lean on? Asking for a friend.
November 8, 20214 yr So will it still be one person per seat or will they allow two person's to stand there?

You’d still get a ‘seat’ number, the seats will probably still be there but you’re not expected to sit down anymore. Basically there will be no difference except you won’t be being a little rebel by standing up anymore
