to be fair to Celtic they deserve that on this second half - we've not adjusted to their changes and always look a man short in midfield

could be a great day for Hearts

Have to agree. Rangers didn't cope with the Celtic changes and got very sloppy. The only winner was Hearts. They'll be very happy with the draw.

We'll have to go through the agony again in two-and-a-half hours with Chelsea.

Think you should go for a walk after that! See you later for whatever Chelsea are going to offer us this afternoon 😂

Some scenes at Ibrox after the end of the Cup game! Luckily it didn’t go any further. Rangers were the best team by a mile, but penalties are always a gamble and a bit unfair.

I missed the game as was out for the day but I've read reports of the match and it sounded dire. I've also seen pictures of the pitch invasions and the damage to the Broomloan Road Stand. Will be interesting to see what actions are taken against the clubs by the Police and SFA. Mass bans of supporters and playing behind closed doors?

As far as I know the last big pitch invasion/battle was at the Scottish Cup Final in 1980. That lead to changes in provisions of alcohol at stadia etc

All in all, very sad,

In a nutshell.

I now wonder if it will in future be ‘home supporters only’ for Rangers v Celtic matches.

Apart from Cup Semi Finals and Finals.

Those fans are their own worst enemies. You can just about guarantee a ban on away supporters for the foreseeable future.

I think you're right about home supporters only. Or if not, reduced allocations e.g. the corner of the Broomloan Road and Govan Stands for the Celtic fans. Contrary to SFA rules but given what happened yesterday an exception may have to be made. The two teams are due to meet at Parkhead in the league in the next few weeks. Suspect the police will ask for a ban on away fans.

Rangers Support Independent Review

Following the events of Sunday’s Scottish Cup fixture at Ibrox, we have spent the past few days in discussions with our staff, supporter groups and the relevant authorities, and we will continue to work closely with Police Scotland, Glasgow City Council, the Scottish FA and the Safety Advisory Group in the weeks ahead.

The disorder that occurred on Sunday was unacceptable and we condemn it unequivocally. Safety must always come first in football, for supporters, players and everyone working in and around the game. We also want to recognise the efforts of the many staff, stewards and emergency services who operated in extremely difficult circumstances on the day.

There are now a number of serious issues which require proper examination. For that reason, we agree that there should be a fully independent review into the events surrounding the match. That review must be thorough and wide-ranging, examining the decisions and actions of all relevant parties. Its scope must include the broader context around this fixture, from the initial decisions on ticket allocations through to the sequence of incidents that followed the match. All parties must be prepared to have their actions and decision-making subjected to proper scrutiny.

Where individuals are identified and convicted of offences connected to the match, the club will take action and impose appropriate sanctions, including the potential withdrawal of ticketing privileges and stadium bans.

We will approach all regulatory engagement responsibly and cooperate fully with the authorities as the facts are established. At the same time, we will represent the club and our supporters robustly. We recognise that many fans want the club to say more at this stage, and supporters should be assured that we are across the detail of the issues being discussed and the questions being raised. However, it is important that we respect any ongoing investigative or judicial processes and do nothing that could prejudice them. There will be an appropriate time to address those matters fully.

What we can say now is that issues of stadium safety and the legacy of the Ibrox Disaster are deeply personal to this club. We were appalled to discover graffiti within the stadium referencing that tragedy. The memory of the 66 supporters who lost their lives in January 1971 deserves dignity and respect. To desecrate their memory is vile. It is cowardly. It is shameful. This is not football rivalry and it is not banter. It is the abuse of a tragedy that claimed 66 lives.

Finally, it is important that the reputation of Rangers supporters is treated fairly in this discussion. Tens of thousands of people attended Ibrox on Sunday simply to support their team with pride and to watch a football match. We will not accept a narrative that ignores the full context of what happened.

For now it would not be appropriate to comment further.

A vital win against Dundee Utd at Ibrox today.

Rangers' Dujon Sterling celebrates as he scores to make it 2-0 during a William Hill Premiership match between Rangers and Dundee United at Ibrox StadiumIMAGE SOURCE, SNS

Dujon Sterling scored Rangers' second goal in an important win.

Rangers 4-2 Dundee Utd

Rangers are top of the Scottish Premiership for the first time in two years - but only after a frantic and ultimately nervy win against Dundee United at Ibrox.

Long-time leaders Hearts can retake the position when they visit Livingston on Sunday, but for the first time since September will play with the pressure of being usurped, albeit only on goal difference.

In a scrappy yet open game, Rangers eventually proved too strong for United - who had put a major dent in Celtic's title hopes last time out - but only after surviving late pressure.

Ryan Naderi and Dujon Sterling put Rangers two goals in front despite some unconvincing play early on, before Amar Fatah's lovely finish on the break right on half-time quietened Ibrox.

Thelo Aaasgaard restored Rangers' comfortable advantage just seven minutes into the second half after a fine move involving Tochi Chukwuani and Djeidi Gassama.

But their inability to shut down a wide-open game or finish their chances left them vulnerable and United struck again on the break through Zac Sapsford to set up a nervy final quarter.

United centre-back Iurie Iovu even headed off a post with six minutes to go,as Rangers threatened to throw away victory.

But all the tension was released when Bojan Miovski swept home their fourth goal from the edge of the box to take Rangers to the top of the league.

Win 6 games and Rangers win the league.

Didn't see that happening when Rohl took over. He's done a great job.

He's a good coach.
