I don't think Wharton is the right player for us, let him stay at Palace for another season and then look again.lol at us getting into one of those bidding wars with ourselves - its a tried and trusted strategy from the geniuses at Blue co. Wharton is he any good? Doesnt seem special to me. Probably fine at a team seeking a mid table finish.

He is not very good in the air. His forward-thinking passing is not great. He wouldn't really compliment Caicedo. He's a decent player for sure. He's just not what we need imho.

(which is why people are so keen on him, apparently he's "elite" at it like a reincarnation of Pirlo). He's also had some nasty injuries over the past couple of seasons. I also think there are better players out there than Warton. Our former blue Conor Gallagher is better in certain metrics than Wharton... certainly for winning the ball back, box to box, goal threat, tackles, recoveries... Wharton is a "deep lying playmaker" weve had one of those before in Jorginho.... who needed 3 man Kante alongside him to look good. I think he's a very good player, but has found his level at Palace. Teams who are better than us have also cooled interest in him. TBH, I want Alonso to have a few weeks Pre season with the squad available to him, then make decisions. I think this is why weve not seen Garnacho/ Enzo and others sold yet. Not really expecting any decent signings this summer think the Argentinian chuckle brothers remain, as do a host of other players we should be pushing out through the door. PS. selling Gallagher was one of the worst decisions this club has made since the retards took us over. The guy bossed the midfield at the bridge last season and made some of our players look bang average, which they are.

Decent player but it feels like they're going down the cheap and cheerful root. Is £40m a good deal for a 29 year old? But that's them out of the race for anymore midfielders I suppose.

I gather their fans are a bit underwhelmed, too. They probably look at Santos and anticipate what they've seen from Mount. Both decent players but not top quality IMO.Mount was very good for us till his final season when injuries and contract issues messed him up. He's barely made an impact since the move. Man Utd really did concede to Spurs, City and Arsenal in the pursuit of a new midfielder and settled for the less options. It does seem like they are going down the discount wages route.
