Yes, they should have banned them, but I don't see why a whole year later our own authorities should be banning them now when we allow fans from all over Europe with a history of racism and violence to also attend.

I'm going to keep bringing up previous teams because the precedent has been set now. Legia fans should not be allowed to attend any game in England because they can't be trusted to behave. Same goes for Celtic, same goes for Serbia fans, don't even get me started on the likes of Millwall. If none of you hold that same energy towards them that you do for Maccabi fans, then you're hypocrites.

I'm 100% certain this is politically driven at this point, when you have stupid c**ts like Sultana saying they shouldn't even be allowed into the country and should be investigated for war crimes the moment they set foot on British soil.

Imagine if anybody had said we can't have anybody enter the country from any middle eastern country because they may be a terrorist. They would be charged for racism on the spot.

Hi Scott from the "Jewish News" site.

Once I read this below, I think there was the real possibly of violence between opposing groups not connected to the match.itself ,apart from anything else...

"A source told Jewish News: “The risk posed by anti-Israel protesters was substantial, but we thought we had a plan to prevent them from prevailing. “But that changed with the intervention of Tommy Robinson.

“There was now also danger that our supporters could be falsely associated with his far-right activities, in front of anti-Israel protestors already out to get them.

“With Robinson’s supporters potentially posing as Maccabi fans on the streets of Birmingham, we concluded that the risk had become unacceptable for innocent fans who just want to watch the game in peace.."

No go area for you, That's on you, but those areas are homes and communities for a lot of people and what were the projects, perhaps they were the reason for the bricks?

Where else is a no go area for you in the UK?

High Voltage Electrical Infrastructure, I’ve been in enough areas to know the difference between ‘kids being kids’ and attempts at intimidation.

It usually boils down to one certain group of people which will because frighteningly obvious if I were to list the areas I’d class as ‘No Go’ in this country.

Again though, I think we all see where this topic is headed and can acknowledge this isn’t a political forum and everyone is going to have differing viewpoints on these issues.

So exactly the same as pretty much every major city in the world then. Ive seen and know of the exact same things your talking about in many many other places. to try and dramatise this as being Birmingham only i nonsense.

It’s not a ghetto, it’s nothing like Gaza, thats just also nonsense.

This is going to come down to personal experience again but I work nationwide and genuinely the only city within our industry that is hand on heart avoided by nearly everyone for a multitude of reasons is Birmingham, we even get a higher rate for going there.

Maybe we have different definitions of a Ghetto but there is literally litter everywhere, bin bags piled in the streets, rats running around, human faeces, unwashed kids playing in that mess. It was an eye opener to me that it exists on this country is all I’ll say. I haven’t come across anything even close in London/Manchester/Newcastle/Sheffield/Leeds etc

As mentioned above, it’s clear there are a lot of differing views on what the ‘issue’ is here and without stating it plainly, which benefits no one here as it’s a football forum at the end of the day. I’ll put it to rest.

I just wasn’t a fan of the beaten rhetoric that ‘Jews bad’ which seemed to be the undertone to the pile on of the provocation of Macabi fans in Amsterdam that led to this whole topic.

No, that's not what's happened at all. Its that the Macabi fans are c**ts that have caused havoc elsewhere, that's it.

There was another group of certain people who made areas "no go" for ordinary folk every Saturday afternoon

Birmingham is not some no go area sh*thole, thats hyperbolic nonsense., Ive been several times the past few years and had a great time in the city with zero problems.

This ban is nothing to do with Birmingham city, its nothing to do with UEFA or FIFA, its entirely to do with the Macabi fans being a bunch of utter c**ts with a history of extreme violence.

You make good points though the we don't know if the Islamic nutcases will look for trouble and move into the area. We do know the Pro-Palestine marches have been large so I think caution is needed for this one.

We've been over this already. Maccabi not making tickets available was after the fact that they were banned. They wouldn't have felt the need to do that had they not been banned.

Just answer this simple question, should Legia fans have been banned when we played them at Stamford Bridge in the Conference League? If you say no, then I stand by my opinion that you're a hypocrite. If we can ban clubs fans from attending games based on a short history of violence, then we should certainly be banning fans with a long history of violence. If we're not going to do that, then I am going to assume that banning them is politically motivated at least and racially motivated at the worst.

Hello Scott

Do you think the Tel Aviv authority would allow a team with fans who were overtly pro Palestine, anti Israel, who had previously mocked the deaths of Jewish children to then attend a match in the city ?

They wouldn't, and for very good reasons whether or not they had a previous history of violence. . Anyway, I hope it all goes off quietly, the whole thing has been stirred up with people who have no interest in football.

Take care mate.

Maccabi Tel Aviv have a Europa league game tonight at home v Danish side FC Midtjylland lets hope this passes trouble free.🤞

Oh just noticed the game is being played in Belgrade, Serbia.

Maccabis previous game was v Croatian team (Zagreb) played in Serbia also.☹️ Really?

Must admit, I didn't know this ....

JERUSALEM, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Israeli champions Maccabi Tel Aviv will play its four Europa League home matches at Partizan Stadium in Belgrade, Maccabi announced in a statement on Wednesday.

Maccabi will play the home matches in Serbia because international organizing bodies have prohibited hosting international football matches in Israel since Oct. 7th, 2023.

for security reasons....well fancy that. So is that what has minded our UK police to restrict access and is it also what the government have baulked at? Im suprised Kier has proposed to go down the dangerous route. i would have marked him down for safety first.

  • 3 weeks later...

So West Midlands authorities say no Maccabi fans were allowed to attend the game, but they let a few hundred pro Palestine people protest right outside the stadium? What moron thought that was a good idea? They ended up clashing with Villa fans that didn't want them there.

Maybe the excuse about Maccabi fans being banned for "Hooliganism" was a complete loud of sh*t and the real reason was that they couldn't guarantee their safety from the locals.

It really wasn't though now was it. Why are you just completely ignoring all the factual evidence about this?

Factual evidence being Maccabi fans having 2 instances of hooliganism in the past year. If that is all it takes, then we should be banning certain clubs fans in our own country.

When their own locals are going to behave like they did on Thursday, you can only imagine how much worse it would have been for Maccabi fans if they had turned up. Villa fans didn't want the protestors there and because of this, they started going after the Villa fans, so imagine what it would have been like if Maccabi fans were allowed to attend.

Villa fans just wanted to watch a game of football, but the authorities allowed non football fans to form a protest and cause problems outside their stadium. Why is that okay, but it wasn't okay for fans to attend?
