Riquelme's free kicks

He fell out with the cheeses at Villareal and was desperate to go back to Argentina. He got a loan deal sorted out with Boca and it looked like he was going to sign a permanent deal with them but that fell through because Boca weren't prepared to meet Villareal's demands. I think Atletico Madrid then made a move for him but that fell through for reasons I don't know. So he is back at Villareal now and still looking for a move as far as I know. Surprising that he hasn't managed to secure one.

How old is he??

Loan deal in Jan i say!! His stock is down and its this kind of buisness that we should be looking at in Jan, when half the squad go of to the ANC, not to different from united taking larson on loan..

Hmm may have to see if can pop grant an email on this one

That's not commentating, that is pure poetry.

Much better than some I've heard. It's like the night of the living dead. Just like politics.

Anyway, don't try and get Riquelme. I want him at Juventus. Great player. Not fast, but difficult to take the ball from. Creative, great passer of the ball and his freekicks isn't bad either.

i think the main qualm is that teams have to be built around him and if thats not the case he has a strop. That is never going to be the case as a big club which is why he isnt at one. Even villareal are trying to move past that stage and improve as a side which is why such a talented player isnt wanted there.

He'll never play for a top side in spain, italy or england again in my opinion.

riquelme's talent is so great that unless you have kaka/totti/ronaldinho/messi then he deserves a side to be built around him. terrific footballer.

villarreal have been doing great without him so there is no "need" for him so far- pires is very good form, and rossi looks a good player.... they have a nice side.

Nakamura has no place on a football forum! He is probably the player who has made a football team mirror American football more than any other. I the same way that in American football you have the geezer who is brough on purely to take field goals Nakamura is kept on the park purely to take free kicks - against half decent opposition he does nothing whatsoever and is only kept on in case Celtic win a feee kick in a dangerous area.

I have do disagree. Sinisa was great at freekicks, I don't deny it but I don't think Carlos was that good. Sure he could score on freekicks every now and then and some were quite amazing too, but the thing is that while he scored on 2, he probably missed 30-40 freekicks and some were absolute rubbish.

Yeah?

Tell that to Marek Jankulovski and Milan.

He had a cracking five minutes against Milan didn't he Sydney.

Nakamura and big games go together like Australians and reserved behaviour. Even the Celtic fans (well other than the most blinkered) are finally beginning to realise it after spending ages claiming he was a footballing god - I even had some claiming he was one of the outstanding performers in the last World Cup!

I'm not sure what you mean by that last phrase- but who dribbled Jankulovski and assisted the shot for Scott McDonald's winner?

He's an intelligent player. I know what you mean by Celtic fans going over the top (Aidan McGeady next Ryan Giggs, or some sh*t like that- there are too many Celtic/Liverpool fans here, a rant for another time) but you make him sound like he is Bolo Zenden.

If it wasn't for the fact he can take a free kick then you have actually hit upon a pretty good comparison in Bolo Zenden! A player who you can rely on to do one good thing about every 6 games (and I mean one good thing - i.e. a dribble against Milan, not one good match) and other than that he may as well be shoping for hair products.

I have seen Nakamura influence a game or two for Celtic - generally it is against the likes of Inverness Cale Thistle, Dundee United or Gretna! In the Champions League and in the games against Rangers and Hibs he has been almost anonymous.

Or Manchester United- he was electric in the game last season, but maybe his form has dropped.

And to be fair, Celtic as a whole were anonymous against Rangers...

So now you can explain- what's with Australians and reserved behaviour? You must realise I am Australian in the same way Gullit4 is English.
