Even though most of us would love to pinch Berbatov from Sp*rs in January, I really don't think it's going to happen. However, these are three transfers that I can see happening.

Royston for the left wing (12 million)

Alves for right back (18 milion)

Anelka for centre forward (12 million)

If these three came in now, I think we'd be well set for a push for the title (with the new central defender already signed, remember).

I'd like Van Der Vaart to be available for CL, especially if Ballack isn't (or was that just the group stages)... is he cup tied? Anyway, I don't think we'll get him now anyway, but make him one of our top targets in the Summer thats for sure.

Anelka I can now see going through (thanks to Bolton leaving him out) - we'd need him for the CL as well.

I'm not sure about that Royston character but otherwise looks good. VDV is in the top of my list.

Drenthe = 9 Million

Modric = 6-14 Million

Modric's club have basically come out and said they aren't selling him till at least the end of season, so I don't think we will be signing him in January.

Van Der Vaart is another I think we will now have to wait till the off-season at the earliest to sign (assuming we do) and hence won't be signed up in January.

Anelka I beleive will go through but Berbatov I don't beleive will.

I don't get the idea of signing Drenthe. I don't see how the kid is really anything that special (feel free to prove me wrong if you have some evidence that he is) and we are allready very well stocked at left back with Bridge and Ashley Cole.

So really, I think Anelka is going to be our only major signing in January. I beleive any other signings will be players haven't heard of before like Ivanovich (sp?) and that Santos guy.

I think that we will not make as many transfers as we might hope. Firstly because most of the good players we want are all cup tied, secondly I think teams will want us to pay over the odds to pry their players away mid season!

Drenthe I think is just press speculation, and Modric has already said that due to an epiphany he wants to stay with his home club

Don't think Drogs will leave January. We need him in the crucial CL games and he still can win CL with us. I hope he's not leaving at all. I don't care if he says he is leaving... He is still with us and will give everything on the pitch.

If Drenthe can't cope in LaLiga he won't cope in EPL either. Modric link is probably cooled off already. Anelka is coming just a matter of time.

I don't know if VDV want's to even leave HSV or that we are even interested on him, he would just be a player I would love to see in our ranks!

Diego from Bremen is another player I wouldn't mind having! He is closest to Zola that I've seen in a long time. His game is little bit faster(runs faster--Zola thinks faster than anyone in the game) than Zola's but that is required these days..

If Anelka is our only major signing in January the Grant makeover will have spluttered to start and then stalled. Another striker would be needed, especially when you consider the ages of those we would have (Kalou as the only youngster with a trick or two) and it would not be sending out the right message on either a 'new era' or 'new entertainment' front.

All the speculation about players in and whether they are eligible for the Champions League - so whose leaving? The CL squad is full - only two spaces remain for homegrown players. If anyone joins (Anelka, Drenthe) someone will have to make way so they can be added to the squad. I think Drenthe is cup-tied but Anelka would be eligible so someone needs to leave/be left out. Add Ballack to that equation and you have a major problem. The squad at the moment looks like this:

That is indeed a tough one.

To include Anelka, I'd leave out Drogba, as he definitely seems to want to leave the club, and I'd be concerned about his hunger and attitude as the season draws to a close.

To include Ballack is far more difficult - and let's face it, Ballack must be included. I'd probably go along with your choice of Ben Haim, though I'd also be tempted to leave out Malouda or maybe even Maka. Naah, got to be Ben Haim - he's a bleedin' liability anyway

Can't take out the kiddy-winks, Gem, it has to be one of the out-of-towners! Forgot about Malouda - I'd keep Ben Haim (only as cover) and lose this waste of space. Whatever happens it's essential we keep our English chappies and bring some babas through.

As for losing Drogba, I think we should employ every trick in the book to keep him short of taking his family hostage (and even then........)!

We need to keep Sheva atleast till the summer. He is good asset for us in the CL. He knows how to play in that cup.

After the summer might be better to find a good and young replacement for him.

After the Everton game Pizza looked useless so maybe he should go in the summer as well. But I think we need to see Pizza paired up with Anelka with a little bit changed formation so we can really tell if he is good or not. He ran like h*ll in the Everton game but almost everytime the ball was passed to him he stumbled with it. And few times it looked like he didn't want to win those long balls...Those long balls that Drogs eats for breakfast .

I think Sheva will bring a lot to the table for us in the CL, and the youngsters can learn from his knowledge

We Could bring in Benzama as a replace for Shevchenko
