jack h
It seems to me that almost everyone is in agreement that we need at least two new wingers with SWP almost a certainty to be gone and many people also wanting Malouda out. Its been said before that there is a lack of quality wingers around and at the moment the only suitable options i can think of are Quaresma who seems a bit inconsistant but in my opinion wouldn't find the premiership too tough and Mancini at Roma who may be too lightweight and if i remember rightly is already 29 or 30. So assuming that SWP and Malouda do leave who would you like to see replace them?
Sheva
Quaresma is someone that we need, we need flair and he will certainly bring it. As for other wingers Valencia have 2 of the best. David Silva and Joaquin, both top quality wingers which we should look at.

Guest
I don't necessarilly see the need for winger per se, there aren't many top class wingers out there, I mean Christiano Ronaldo isn't even really a winger in the strictest sense. Rather I would like to see some more quality, reasonably versatile, attacking, ball playing midfielders. That is, players who rather than playing a fixed role, have a freedom to roam around a bit, getting on the ball and creating openings for our centre forward/s. blueday3
Well if we switch to a 4-4-2 then only 1 creative type midfielder would be needed right with Lamps Ballack and Essien/Maka/Mikel taking the other 3 spots, then potentially 2 new strikers up front. So that would be nice.
mad_mac
It all depends on the system that we play next season. I for one do not want Malouda to leave. I think sweepy might go, and if we bring in another winger, he should. Unless he just wants to ride out a pretty BIG contract! I have always liked Joaquin, and yes Queresma is an exciting player. However, if we went 4-4-2, then we could have Joaquin, Malouda, Cole, and Queresma; assuming that we signed every one of the aforementioned players, to give us the wonderful position of "two players for every position." However, this also assumes that we are playing a 4-4-2 with wingers, and not a diamond with three defensive midfielders and one creative player at the tip. Then we would only need Joe cole, plus Van Der Vaart or someone of a creative ilk. Then, our concentration would be more on wing backs, or attacking full backs. We know Ashley cole loves to bomb up and down the left wing, and Boswinga on the right with belletti as back up. So there we would only need a back up LB assuming bridgey moves on. If we play 4-3-3 or 4-5-1, then the decision is do we want wingers or a secondary striker and a winger? The main area I feel we need to concentrate on is the area of our strike force. One minute Drogba is gone, the next he's staying. I think he will leave. I am not so sure Pizzarro will, i could see him stay for his contract, or us sending him out on loan a la Boulahrouz. Sheva will possibly go back to AC for a year and then retire. I have heard murmurs that Anelka will leave also, but these are merely small rumblings of a rumour. This means we would have Kalou, and Maybe Pizzarro . Kalou I like, and is versatile enough to play in a 4-3-3, 4-5-1 and I think he will become a great player for us. If we were to play with a solitary striker, then I really don't know if we could avoid a look at Eto'o. And I for one would really like us to sign Huntelaar. I also think either of these players could be great in a 4-4-2, with someone like Kalou or Villa dropping a little deeper as a secondary striker. Only the summer will tell, but I think about 4 key signings, and a couple youngsters taking up the extra spots on the bench next season when we switch to the 7 subs.....we'll be good. Of course this all depends on who leaves Scott

Damien Duff comes to might, though not as the first choice to fill this void. But a versatile, veteran player who shut his mouth and did the business could be a great depth signing

ethicalstrategy
We need pace and goal threat, whether that is wide or up top depends on our formation. Our biggest problem has been that our lone striker has been isolated and that our wide players have lacked quality with the final ball - partly because of only having one player to aim at in the box it should be said. If we want to score more we also need to be more positive in midfield - by which I mean playing Mikel rather than Makaand playing higher up the pitch. I too would have Robben back - he is head and shoulders above any of the wide players we currently have.

dkw
agree totally with chelsea fc champions. aguero and benzema are the two we should be after. not duff or robben, both far too injury prone. quaresma looks like he has an attitude problem. i dont think his character would suit our squad. lennon is similar to swp. pace to burn but rarely produces an end product. ashley young looks like a fantastic talent, but id be worried he might turn into another swp. but definately worth a punt. silvas one id love to see us go for. i think hes an excellent player, and would be fantastic in chelsea blue. but we definately need to go out for 2 wingers. the ones we have now just dont produce. and with defences and midfields becoming tighter and better organised, wingers are becoming more and more vital in the game in my opinion. abramovich
Landing Benzema and Aguero would have been fantastic coup but it'll take a literally insane amounts of money to get either plus they seem to be settled where they are for now. Benzema only recently extended his contract until 2013 and said on every occasion that he's not looking to leave Lyon anytime soon despite all the offers. Doesn't mean we shouldn't keep trying but in the meantime it may make sense to go after the more realistic targets. Aguero may prove to be easier to sway but i doubt Atletico would want to part with him. They finished fourth in La Liga and qualified for the CL, they'll want to hold on to him. Certainly worth testing them with a big offer though, you never know.

Sheva
Im sure Benzema said he wants to stay at Lyon for another year, as for Aguero he is like A.Madrids new Nando Torres, so i doubt he will be going anywhere for another year or so unless we other something crazy. Quaresma is a very realistic target, he has stated he wants to go elsewhere to further his career away from Porto and he would be a quality purchase. Joaquin is also going to leave Valencia and the likes of Everton are in for him, that would be criminal to have such a player of his Quality go to a club like Everton he is so underrated it's unreal. He's gonna leave Valencia it's almost certain, he is one of there highest paid players and they are in financial trouble so they need to offload him. Just hope we go for some top quality wingers this year and give the Chelsea team flair.
Iceman
Spend the budget on three top signings - Benzema (if we can't get him then Berbatov) Aguero Kaka Then in the likelihood that Drogba leaves, use the money and replace with Gomez & in the likelihood Malouda leaves, use in a swap deal with Dos Santos. The only 2 remaining positions to be looked at might be CB and GK if Ricky and Carlo leave, although I hope the club do everything in their power to keep hold of Ricky. Think Frank will stay.
