I think this must be the last time we loan out Ben, We really should be using him within the first team.

Chelsea have to look to the future and use our very promising players.

This is a positive move for mine.

We need to get Ben Sahar (and all our other youngsters over the age of 20) playing premiership football if possible so that we can actually know whether or not they can make it at Chelsea. Because lets face it, if they can't perform and hold a place in a Premiership side, then how at realistically supposed to challenge for one at Chelsea?.

i would prefer to see him in stokes/wigan/hull.

not in Pompey, they already have Defoe,Baros,Utaka etc

Fair call, though I don't think Chelsea would loan him to Pompey unless they thought he would be played.

You mean he's less likely to get a game? I can see what you're saying but I'm not so sure. At Stoke or Hull, it would (I imagine) be far easier for him to get into the first team, at Portsmouth he'd have to fight for his place. If he can't make it there, there's no way he'll make it at Stamford Bridge.

Yea i agree, this has to be the last loan. To be honest this is starting to look a little like the Carlton Cole situation, constantly loaning until you realise there isn't a place in the team or another club comes in with a bid.

On the other hand it is a good sign to see Ben moving up to a team ni the prem, this could be the final stage of development on loan before chelsea take him back.

Lets hope he lives up to expectation!

Now, if we have injuries this season and the January window rolls around, rather than bag a mid-table three goal wonder like Anelka, we can just recall Sahar for nothing

Assuming he does the business there, that is

This smells of Glen Johnson to me. Young player, with bags of talent, off to pompey. He'll be signed on a permanent deal by the end of the season, to pompey

If we're saying he's being loaned to Pompey and is going to spend most of his time on the bench then what's the point of loaning him out? He can do that here at the Bridge especially with the 7 sub rule coming in. If he is to be loaned out then send him to a club where he will get a more likely chance of a starting booth.

Redknapp seems to be good at turning players with promise back into what they could be.

This for us is good, as Sahar's progress has stagnated and he hasn't developed into the player he could be, hopefully he'll get some experience and turn his progress back on track.

He is only 18 you know, the player he could be is still very much to come

Agree entirely. People tend to look at the exceptions like Messi, Rooney and Fabregas and think 'well if they haven't broken through by the time they are 19 they are never going to make the grade, best to let them drop a level' - the truth is that the majority of players who turn out to be top quality are not world beaters before they are out of their teens. We need to be a lot more patient with youngsters.

Bang on mate. Look how many of the current England (and Chelsea) team came through at West Ham in his time.

I think Sinclair will get more 'pitch time' this year but Sahar is stagnating and needs some Premiership time. Good move.

Yes I know he's only young, which is why he needs a manager like Redknapp to help his development, his track record with helping players realise their potential is good.

Sahar hasn't been progressing as much as he looks like he could've, and Redknapp is the type of manager who can get Sahar's developmental progress back on track.

Looks like scott might be out on loan as well

I'd prefer to see him loaned to a Premiership side personally.

It does make me wander, how can any one in and around the first team be sent on loan untill scolari has had a chance to asses all the players at his disposal? who makes these decitions!!

Any coach / manager worth his salt is likely to look at Scott Sinclair and say "young, promising, not ready for a starting role yet".

Just confirmed on the official site that he has gone to Pompey on a 6 month loan deal. Jimmy Smith has also gone on loan to Sheffield Wednesday for 6 months:

YOUNG BLUES IN LOAN MOVES

Youngsters Ben Sahar and Jimmy Smith have both signed six-month loan deals today.

Israeli international forward Sahar has agreed a temporary move to Portsmouth until January, while Smith moves to Championship side Sheffield Wednesday for the same period.

ALSO -

Slobodan Rajkovic - Will not be going back to PSV as he hardly played for them last season and Chelsea want him to get more action.

Adrian Pettigrew has turned down a move to a Belgium.

Very good move for Sahar, he finally gets a chance to prove he can hack it at the top level. Hopefully Sinclair gets to do the same.

Sahar on target in Pompey win

On-loan Chelsea striker Ben Sahar scored two first-half goals as Portsmouth beat Havant & Waterlooville 4-0 in a friendly at Westleigh Park.Sahar opened the scoring after seven minutes from Arnold Mvuemba's through ball then headed in a Glen Johnson cross 10 minutes before half-time.

It took until five minutes from time before Pompey again breached the defences of last season's FA Cup heroes, Mvuemba getting on the scoresheet himself with a long-range effort.

Johnson, who also hit the bar, rounded off the scoring in injury time with an angled strike.
