Englishman
So even UEFA think the best team didn't win! Can't wait to see Ronnie's face if he doesn't get the best forward award.

gustyheadhunter
FROM THE SITE John Terry, Frank Lampard and Petr Cech have all been given Uefa awards in their respective positions. The Player of the Year Awards, which are based on the three Blues' performances during last season's Champions League campaign, were handed out during the ceremony in Monaco to celebrate the group stage draw. Captain Terry won the Defender of the Year Award after leading the Blues to our first Champions League Final in Moscow last May. Frank Lampard beat off the likes of Paul Scholes, Steven Gerrard and Cesc Fabregas to be given the Midfielder of the Year Award while Petr Cech was named Goalkeeper of the Year for the second year in a row after another impressive season on the European stage between the Chelsea posts. Chief executive Peter Kenyon said: 'It is a major achievement for Petr, John and Frank, but it also reflects very well on the club and we are delighted that three Chelsea players have been awarded Uefa Player of the Year in their respective fields. 'It is well deserved and Frank has been in and around achieving that award for the last four seasons, so it is not just about last season, it is about the contribution those three players have made to European football over the past few years. 'It is great they have got what they deserve.' Speaking about Cech's second successive award in two years Kenyon said: 'We all think Petr Cech is world class and this just demonstrates that he is on top of his game and everybody in Europe recognises him as one of Europe's greatest goalkeepers.' Fresh from his award and back in England, John Terry will be appearing live on Chelsea TV's Big Match Countdown tomorrow (Friday) at 7pm, taking calls and emails from fans. Tim
or that he's just found out someone's shat in his car. It's cost me a fortune in weekly tickets to L*verpool and back, but it's still definitely worth it.

clubhappy
Champions of Europe or good player award ? You choose . If we won the champions league i wouldn't give a f**k if none of our players was voted into any top players team of the year .
blueday3
Yeah true, but it is some consolation knowing we have the best players in 2/3 of the pitch, we just need more in that final third.
Mr Chelsea
my initial thought was that the lads got the sympathy vote from the voters but they were all outstanding in the champs league last season, and more than deserved the accolades they recieved the voters actually got something right for a change
Ruh Buh Juh
Ronaldo did win best forward, but I don't think it should count to be honest. Ronaldo went to the Mancs as a direct replacement for Beckham, so that makes him a right MIDFIELDER/WINGER. Since when do midfielders and wingers count as strikers? Maybe Fergie played him up front in a few games because they were short on strikers, but that's still no reason to give him best forward. In the CL final, where did he play? On the left of MIDFIELD. It makes no sense to me.
Backbiter
In the CL final, where did he play? On the left of MIDFIELD. It makes no sense to me. That's cause Manure played with no strikers that night, and stuck 11 men behind the ball. Ronaldo played as a striker all last season, even if they bought him 4 years ago as a winger. BLUENUT
What do the 'f**k off Frank you greedy bar steward' posters feel about this? ;)

BLUENUT
...why would this change their view? Perhaps they might realise we already have one of the best midfielders about.....there's no point in losing him and signing someone like Kaka for a massive fee and on wages more than we were prepared to offer Lamp's. Especially from a club prepared to spunk £30m on a player the manager never even wanted....how can people talk about penny-pinching? Lamp's is heart and soul of the club...........Well done Frank.....and accolade well deserved, your mum would be proud of ya!
g3.7
do you really think the fans who think lamps was greedy didn't recognise his quality as a footballer? a ridiculous notion, really. they are separate issues. and your point is irrelevant- they are talking about whether a man is greedy or not- it doesn't have anything to do with his employers competence. Backbiter
I can't believe this....the Daily Mail giving our players a slagging over this and bigging up Manure and and Liverpoo: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...--honoured.html Who'd have thought it from such a respected paper? ChrisC
The Final more or less went down to the toss of a coin so there's no reason for Mancs to feel hard done by. Moan moan moan
