its a strange situation isnt it. he brought nani on today and only gave tevez about 10 minutes, its almost as though fergie doesnt really want him. id gladly take him at chelsea, just not sure how much the fee would be.

No we shouldn't. Not the sort of striker we need as he drifts around almost as much as Anelka does.

while we could use a second striker having missed out on robinho, I think we should still focus on aguero. we really can't let him stroll over to barcelona without a fight.

Given that Drogba poss will have fewer and fewer games in him as seasons pass and the jury is out on wether Anelka is good enough. We possibly will be in the market for 2 strikers, Tevez is proven in the premiership and would be a good buy if we could get him for one of the berths...Aguerro being the other.

Not sure how many times they have played together so far. Aguerro's international career is only just starting although he has nearly scored as many international goals as Tevez already.

For some reason I always thought those scars were caused by a car crash but it was only a few days ago that I read that they were caused by him being scolded with boiling hot water as a kid which resulted in him being in hospital for a few months. Pretty horrific.

I think it's more a question of pushing him out as united don't have the money to buy him. As much as the club deny it they are up to their necks in debt, and pushing players to one side is classic red nose behaviour, he doesn't want to lose face when they don't sign him. Maybe it's no coincidence that Rooney has found his shooting boots since Berbatov has started, but I rate Tevez his movement on and off the ball is superb. Although I must admit the thought of nicking him off of red nose appeals more, which I suppose is not the best basis for business.

He's a class player, and has that knack of coming up with big goals on big occaisions.

He would slide straight into our side, in the wider, support striker role that Scolari had earmarked for Robinho.

He's 100% proven in the Premiership as well in my opinion (sorry mad mac). He singlehandedly saved West Ham from the drop, then came up with the big goals late in the season that won manure the league.

The biggest problem I have with Tevez is the same one I had with Kezman (although granted Tevez is better than Kezman!) - they both spend far too much of the time looking at their own feet. Too often Tevez has the ball and ends up blowing a good opportunity because he can't seem to look up and run with the ball at the same time, as a result he has little awareness of what is going on around him, including where his team mates and the opposition players are. As a consequence he tends to pick up the ball in a good position, beat the defender but takes so long to then work out where to pass it to the defender has either caught up with him again or he still doesn't look up and decides to turn back into the defender again.

I don't think Ferguson is playing him out of the team for financial reasons, I think he is pushing him out of the team because he has realised he simply isn't good enough and certainly not worth £32m. I am not saying he is a dreadful player, I just think West Ham is about his level and it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Man Utd don't sign him and he ends up moving for far less that the £32m figure being discussed. I just hope it isn't us that buy him.

Not sure what the big goals that won Utd the league were. I don't recall him scoring a single goal in the 2nd half of the season that was a match winner (could be mistaken but if I am I bet it was only once or twice). I remember he got a goal here and there when Utd scored 3 or 4 but never a crucial one to turn a result.

I think he is another Sweepy type player; looks good in a less than average team, and gets a lot of hype. THe move to Manure will have inflated that hype too. I remember watching the world cup, and everytime Tevez got the ball it was as if he just stuck his head down and ran for the corner flag

I like tevez. i just think he's work ethic is what people get to high on. he's like rooney without the bit of magic.

Awkward situations abound for Ferguson at the moment, involving Ronaldo, which is the most visible, the [as yet] unresolved litigation surrounding Mikel, which is ignored yet lingers in the background, and Tevez, who is probably the least of his worries, but who is nevertheless getting more and more unsettled by being benched on a regular basis. In each case it could be argued that United have had their metaphorical cake [Ronaldo for another season, Mikel’s money for nothing and Tevez on tick] and have either eaten it whole or are munching away, but not exactly enjoying the taste at present.

Indirectly linked with the Winker through our close season transfer wrangle with Robinho and Real Madrid and directly affected by the Mikel saga, everybody on here knows that I would have loved Chelsea to have become totally involved with Tevez long ago. Ronaldo’s goals may have played a major role in United doing the double last season, but I believe that Tevez’s contribution was of real significance as well and the fact that he did it all ’on the cheap’, as it were, only made matters worse. Whilst we have moved on since then and I now have to agree to a certain extent with Loz when he says that he’s not an exact fit in the new scheme of things, I do believe him to be world class and an ideal second striker, which is what we currently need. Also, in view of the problems mentioned, there may well be a deal to be done and a financially viable one at that…

Real say they don’t want Ronaldo anymore and, if believed, Tevez becomes a big name alternative with Ferguson powerless to stop the deal, unless he pays the top dollar that he should have paid over initially. In short, at the end of a season when both matters come to a head, United can see themselves being squeezed by Real over this issue - Ronaldo desperate to leave, Tevez disillusioned and their main suitor sitting back and saying ’Now let me see, who shall we go for?’ For our part, Kenyon seems as happy to distance himself from any January signings as he is reluctant to give Real Madrid the time of day, but, given these circumstances and a fair legal wind to go after United for the return of the Mikel payout, showing interest in Tevez might prove an astute move.

Admittedly, there is no point in an approach if Felipe does not see the player as a useful addition to the squad, which I do, especially when you consider the noticeable lack of other top quality attacking options likely to be available once the Robinho money burns a hole in Real’s pocket. We are reputedly not spending heavily anyway and this appears to rule out Aguero, whereas, when it comes to a Robinho 'type' who can also play on the wing, I would much rather see us advance the development of Miroslav Stoch than go down the ’we must buy a good wide man’ route yet again. Before anyone counters by saying that there must also be other youngsters coming through [in the Tevez mould] so why doesn’t the same argument apply, let me say that getting the Argentinean into the squad would serve a dual purpose, in so far as he would also be out of United’s, and there is a certain fellow countryman in our ranks already who might just play rather well alongside him, given the chance.

I'd have taken him back when he was in Corinthians, I'd have taken him back when he proved that he can handle the PL while playing for West Ham and yes,I'd take him now. He is still young and very talented player who has more natural ability and physical strength than Kalou and is yet to reach his peak unlike Anelka who's past it.

I compare our strikeforce with that of MU and Arsenal and it's mind boggling that after spending so much money, besides Drogba, we have no reliable option upfront.

I don't think a Tevez type player is the answer, we need a goalscorer, a Van Nistelrooy or Owen type striker who only needs one chance a match to get a goal, at present we don't have one of those and i think its essential to the way we play

I would certainly take Tevez over Anelka, Kalou or Malouda however I would take Robert Fleck over them! I don't see that the answer to having a striker who isn't suited to our team is to bring in another one.

Isnt Tevez on a appearance fee basis at the Mankers ie Red nose saves money everytime he doesnt use him
