Haven't the English and Portuguse players been back in training for only 2 weeks or so? That could explain it.

Another game that proves what we know. We are not match fit, however this kind of games help us to get that match fitness.
Dont take the defeat to harsh, we need to gain fitness and that is what we are doing. This game was another trial and thats it.

Time to gain more fitness for sunday game and we will lift the next cup .

About Kakuta, well his senior team mates didnt help him, he isnt gonna come on and change the game specially when we werent capable or retaining possession. The Kid is very very good. You will see that.

Next sunday Chelsea will win again the first important game of the season,

Zhirkov screwed up.

The guy is a midfielder not a defender.

Turnbull doesn't inspire confidence.

Carvalho has slowed down considerably.

The only good thing to come out of this game - no serious injuries!

Well another disapointing performance.. dont know whats wrong with our defense.
1-1 was a major cock-up again, Zhirkov´s pass was horrible but Turnbull was very very slow to react aswell.
At the moment our players clearly arent ready.. just good that we dont have big opponents coming up at the beginning of the season.

apart from giving away another couple of sloppy goals, one through complete tiredness i though
i was quite pleased with the effort and the performance though
its very difficult to get motivated for a match that means absolutely nothing, sunday will be different

About Kakutas performance: I think he just tried a little too much when he came on, Hamburg put a lot of pressure on us and there was no room at all in midfield. And after his 1on1 attempts failed he sticked to no risk passes.
I was more dissappointed with Benayoun.. I dont even know what position he was supposed to play.

Also Bruma had major problems with Elia..just good that he didnt have to defend him for too long

I wanted to see Manciene with the team in the second half, it is bitterly dissapointed to see the lack of chances given to him. The other day against Frankfurt, he did well.He deserves to play more IMO.
JT pace was never his strongest side, so I am not surprised by that.
We dont have so many problems in the defence, IMO, we just gave away silly goals during this pre season, due to lack of fitness, players switch off.
Where we have problems is at DM, Mikel is clearly not good enough, he needs to move the ball faster,pick the pass earlier, because when teams pressed up us , we have to go back with the ball. I really see Ramires signing as a key signing for us.

Yeah obviously...Mikel is to be blamed.  
He didnt have a good game but I cant see how he was worse then his team mates.

My opinion is not gonna change. He isnt very good moving the ball around, whenever he picks a long ball pass 80% of them are away, straight to the oposition. Ancelotti used to have Pirlo in that position and he never said he wasnt 100 % convinced by Mikel.

His duty is to move the ball fast, to make the team play, a lot of times, he moves the ball back.

Dont think that article (now posted, about 3 or 4 times) tells us anything we didnt know.

Ridiculous to blame JOM for today but, he will indeed be the fall guy in the Ramires deal and deservedly so.

He simply hasnt come on at all these past 4 seasons. Carlo isnt stupid.

Perhaps it will be the rocket up the arse Mikel so clearly needs but i have my doubts.

Nice link,you cant compare Makelele to Mikel. Makelele was a master in that position.

Why would we want to sign Ramires if Carlo was happy with what we have at the moment?

I see Essien as DM, Ramires at RM, Lampard LM. what would Ramires bring to the team? Pace, one, dynamism two, runner three, goals four, quick feet five.

Mikel lacks what Ramires have, dynamism with the ball, pace.... I see Essien playing DM and Ramires at Ballack position.

I watched last 15mins of the game so I'm not entitled to give stonewall comments but I think Mikel was the one player looking comfortable on the ball, passing well and I saw him catch the ball 2-3 from Hamburg and turned the game around. I agree on Mikel being a too slow on passing but if he can turn around the game or take the ball away from the opponent without fouling he's done 95% of his job.

The first 75 minutes were excellent from us, completely controlled the game (until Clive opened his bloody gob )and looked much sharper and more energetic than sunday. I thought Mikel had a very good game today, not sure why hes getting so much stick. Stupid mistakes costing us goals again, need to stop that sharpish. But we should never read too much into a friendly, looking forward to beating the Mancs now.
