John Obi Mikel Appreciation Thread
I'm not a Mikel hater, i have defended him on here many times. I just think we could and should strengthen that area and £13m is not nothing....its £13m. We could for example get Scott Parker back on a free, its a world cup year and he'll be giving his all to make that squad. There talking £5-£10m for Alonso(again trying to secure world cup place) so straight away you have twice the depth plus both players are better than the one you have and your £7m up on the deal. There are options is all i'm saying and £13m does'nt sound a bad price for Mikel to me.

"Chelsea ruined English Football"
We had a similar chat in the 10yr anniversary of RA thread about bitter clubs hating our success. In particular Arsenal and Liverpool because its been mainly at their expense. When Liverpool were really successful in the 80's they were owned and bankrolled by one of the richest families in Britain. Arsenal were originally a small team from Woolwich who having been bought by a wealthy man saw there fortunes change. They are the only team in the top flight who didn't EARN there place there but BOUGHT it. Thats right they BOUGHT there way into the 1st division and i'm not talking literally but actually. Under Herbert Chapman they went on to with major investment at the time sign all the best players and win the title 3yrs in a row in the 30's, they moved to North London and the rest as they say is History. Organic growth my arse-nal.

hi guys
It dont matter when the game is or what time. You will find a totally different CFC on a prem game. Anything likely to happen will go on outside the bubble anything that happens at any prem games these days in my eyes are either young idiots who dont know the rules or even worse bully boys. Either way its not the way. Dont get me wrong people wont have liberties taken, we aint mugs and if you do you will get plenty of resistance. If you do fancy terrorizing woman, children, tourists, oap's and businessmen on there weekends you'll find alot more at Trafalgar square. But dont come to the Bridge give it large and go home all heroic. Why dont you just come and watch some worldclass players having a decent game of football.

Everything that Mata's
JM wants to sign Luka Modric, but he doesn't fancy Juan Mata same paper, idiots......why because they play the same position and Mata is better the problem is LM wont keep putting JM's tracksuit on were as JM will.

The 2013/2014 Fixture list: Sky + BT Sport
oh i wasn't talking about our games, just others of interest. which are now being screened on ITV 62, the internet or on some dutch porn channel.........but sometimes thats a whole new ball game

The 2013/2014 Fixture list: Sky + BT Sport
I know there is a lot to be said for breaking up sky's cartel......from and fans point of view it was a lot easier when games were shown in one place. Sky started it by getting cheeky themselves, first it was SS1, then games started going on SS2 so you had to subsribe to that as well and so on and so on. It was just easier when you thought, the footie is on tonight i'm watching that. You only had to ask yourself how many beers and what takeaway! Now you have to think what channel, do i subscribe, can I stream etc etc. Just put the po*y match on the telly aaarrrgghhh! Sorry rant over.

England's European Under-21 Championship Failure
yeah and from a clubs point of view this whole Nationality thing cant be helpful. You buy an England U21 international who helps out with squad quota's etc who then becomes Nigerian and buggers of to Africa for 2 months mid season(not having a pop at Moses here just the system).

England's European Under-21 Championship Failure
I think its a combination of all of the things being said. Firstly and most importantly England at all levels are nowhere near good enough. The reason i'll come too in a second. I agree its pointless sending players like Rodwell who hav'nt kicked a ball hardly at club level all season half way round the world for 8mins of a friendly when he could have been competing at Euro U21. There are too many players getting senior call ups before they are ready but one of the reasons these days is a player is not that Nationality until they have a senior cap so players like Zaha and Sterling could be 'poached' by other countries through heritage. The most important reason is the standard of coaching in this country is a joke, the buck lies with the FA. They have allowed a country so football rich at the minute to watch so much money walk out the door through player wages and agents fee's that most clubs find themselves on the brink of bankruptcy. When in fact they should be awash with cash and have the best grass roots system in the world. There should be football schools and pitches at the end of every street, coaches and facilities to enable this country to produce top quality footballers than can then be sold to envious clubs all over the world which in turn gives them greater experience and makes them far better players. In the last 30 years you would struggle to name 30 British let alone English players who have had successful careers abroad in all the different leagues, yet there are probably 15 top quality Belgium players alone in the EPL as we speak. Thats a sad indictment to the type of quality players we produce.

Getting worried........
We finished 14 points of the top last year, i could easily tell you where we could and SHOULD have got those points. Our squad is fine, last years signings will be even better this season and our returning loanee's will add quality and depth. JM will bring unity, organisation and consistency. The club or manager are never going to say who they want and who they dont want in a press conference, it devalues the player you may sell and hikes up the price of your top targets.....its bad business. Way to much speculation in the papers at the minute, Like i said i think the squad is fine and underachieved in the league last season because of a lack of the things i just said JM will bring. Saying that i do also believe that JM WILL tweak the squad once he has assessed it and that that will be enough for a serious challenge. Calm down, very early days.

Malouda - message for fans!
Nice touch Flo, after all as it stands his legacy at the club reads won the double, and CL fa cup double. Could have ruined all that with a pointless leaving shot that would have got him nowhere, but then again that hasn't stopped others in the past.

Happy Anniversary
Exactly, ask one of them about Herbert Chapman and they have no idea. Football has alway's been about the have's and the have nots. It aint rocket science.....have money-buy good players-win matches/trophies. Everton were another side who won a load of trophies after being financially backed. Liverpool in the 80's were owned by one of the richest families in Britain but they all seem to think when they spent there money it was different or somehow 'allowed'. Deluded jealous twats.
-
Happy Anniversary
Oh and the other old tired lines from opposition fans like if we spend money its cos we earned it and have a right to. Had this one from a gooner the other day until i informed him that of course our annual turnover was indeed higher than theres so we infact earn more money than they do.....the difference being our owner is happy putting that money back in by way of wages/transfers and the result....trophies. Were as there shareholders take a nice premium at the end of the season. Another tired old line was once you have won the CL he'll get bored but here we are CL in the bag, 10yrs coming up and wait a minute Jose is back while RA and CFC are looking hungrier than ever. That must really hurt the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool hahahahahahahaha.

Isco v Schurrle..
Remember when you signed a player and you didn't know anything about them. Couldn't watch football from all over the world or youtube compilations and then they would come on and you had no idea what you were getting. I remember when we signed Roy Wegerley.(excuse the spelling) He came over from Australia i think......had a trial and he was such an unknown entity and he was'nt a bad player for us at the time either. Even players from Britain you didn't know to much about, Gordon Durie was a pleasant surprise when he signed. Of course there is always the other end of the coin and seeing Dave Mitchell make his debut was hilarious, people were literally holding their heads in their hands thinking who on earth signed him. Oh those were the days, you only really get that now watching the youth sides. There is a lot less of the unknown about footballers these days and i kind of miss it.

José Mourinho Confirmed as Chelsea Manager!
I agree, dont get me wrong we all hope he is successful but nobody can guarantee anything regarding trophies. The thing is you know JM cares, you can guarantee that he and his players will be giving their all when they go on the pitch. If we win great if we dont it wont be for lack of effort and as a fans thats all i ask.

Our New Stadium
Nobody has said that 'tourists' or any fan is not welcome at the club. I said in my original post that all CFC fans are welcomed the more the merrier. I have no doubt they spend more money at the club, just like corporate fans sitting in there sw**ky boxes do and long my that continue as it all helps Chelsea. As blueboy was trying to point out though there is a fanbase out there who are getting overlooked at the minute, he's the die-hard who has probably worked out that Middlesborough away in the cup on a wednesday night even with travel is cheaper for him than Stoke at home in the prem on saturday. All i ask is we try and incorperate everybody. I am quite lucky i have decent job and have had my season ticket since the old west stand with my dad and brother. I have seen first hand how the crowd at the bridge has changed over the last 20yrs and i know success will always do that and i aint knocking it. All fans are welcome in my eyes but its just a shame that many from back then have been priced out and wish we could find away to get as many of them back as we can........cos i guarantee its their kids that are growing up supporting us and them who will continue when football becomes a little less trendy. We could get 40k crowds for big games 25yrs ago, with them and a whole new generation of blues plus our friends from around the world if we had a bigger stadium, terracing or something that could make sure everyone can get in at affordable prices that has to be the plan. But like most things in life once a price goes up they never come down again. Thats why i keep banging on about terracing and offering a matchday experience for people who otherwise wouldn't be able to go.
-
Our New Stadium
They have to bring back terracing. Look at the attendances and atmosphere in Germany. I keep going on about it but it would solve many issues. You dont have to have entire stadiums, but you could easily have safe affordable standing areas. This would give people an option, people who want to create an atmosphere can all stand together and sing till their hearts content without some Japanese tourist telling him to sit down every 5 minutes cos he trying to take a picture. People who have been priced out would have an affordable option too. Sadly its probably never going to happen, not because of health and safety.....surely there must be some European law that says if its ok in Germany its ok here. If you can have 250,000 standing in a field all day out there nuts at a concert i'm sure you could have 20,000 people standing safely at a football match for 90mins. If the clubs pushed for it they would get it but they wont, they are happy to have waiting lists and demand exceeding supply so they can drive the price up. Every bodies match day is different and most are catered for and rightly so. If someone wants to sit and watch a game with their kids they have a family section. If someone wants to have a 3 course meal and a bottle of wine they can go corporate. There are more women at football now than ever before and facilities in place to accommodate all types of fans. Disabled, o.a.p's, tourists the lot there all welcomed and all catered for. Whats so bad about the blokes who cant afford the seats, cant go corperate, has no kids and wants to have a few beers and sing a few silly songs at a match after a hard weeks work.....oh no we dont want him here anymore he's a hooligan.

José Mourinho Confirmed as Chelsea Manager!
Legacy is exactly right, a glory season or 2 around various clubs makes him the best manager of his generation. A dynasty at the bridge makes him a legend. He can be another name at Inter,Real,Porto. He can be a page in their history, albeit a celebrated page but surely his desire coming back to the bridge is to be more than that. Not a page, a chapter. The chapter......a legend.

José Mourinho Confirmed as Chelsea Manager!
I think that he means he can do better with the squad we already have than what they have done in previous seasons and i make him right. He is saying our squad underachieved in the league. We finished 14 points of the top and i could easily list games we shouldn't have lost/drawn to make that gap up. I think he is saying we already have it in us to be champions and with some hard work and focus our current team should be doing much better, add to that 1 or 2 new players and boom there it is!

Trophy Room
I was reading the Standard last night and it made me laugh that they said Jose was coming back to return us to our glory days and i thought bloody hell how lucky are we. Lets be fair under JM we were all conquering (domestically anyway) but things have hardly been barren since then. FA cup under Hiddink, Double in 2010, CL and Fa cup 2012 and Uefa cup this season......and we need returning to our glory days. I had the biggest grin on my face. Then i thought about the gooners and i chuckled, apparently they had a break in at the Emirates and their trophy room was robbed. Police are looking for a man with a carpet under his arm

Our New Stadium
Take the roof of the MH and extend the upper tier so it goes up as high as the east and west. That would create a big sweeping bowl and this is only guess work but i'm sure your talking about 750-1000 seats taking into account the corners and about 10-15 rows. You could even go back further who knows. If you took the middle amounts your probably talking about 11-12k extra seats and around 55k capacity. How much would that extension cost.....not as much as building a new ground i'm sure. Behind the MH you could build a walkway over the tracks that would solve the health and safety issues, but i'm sure all of these avenues are being looked into by people who know far more about it than me.

José Mourinho Confirmed as Chelsea Manager!
Apparently there was a Liverpool fan on talk sport who said if Chelsea fans are so happy with JM coming back how comes they aren't outside the ground celebrating. The reporter replied probably because they all have jobs.....
