I agree with this but there also seems to be a lack of do or die commitment. Tonight is extra time Sunderland were really going for it - I think many of our guys were looking forward to penalties. Against Stoke, they kept going and we were starting to think a draw was all right. I think there's a problem with the way we approach a lot of these games against "less good" teams. We seem to think we've got a divine right to win, but we don't. In comparison to the way Liverpool set about Spurs at the weekend really chasing the ball down when they lost it and attacking with speed and purpose, we seem to be almost lackadaisical - everyone is expecting someone else to do something amazing. Is our problem really that we have a group of individually talented mid-fielders but we don't seem to really have a team?

another game where Lukaku would have been able to lead the line - it's against the likes of Sunderland that you need his strength. I'm fed up watching our players being brushed off the ball...

It's a bit like managers in tracksuits versus managers in suits - I know a lot of people don't give a t*ss but these small things say something about what the club thinks is important and the stature of the club itself. If Chelsea turned out on Remembrance Day with a gaffa-tape armband I'd be pretty disappointed, in my opinion it woulds show a lack of respect. My guess is that on this occasion the decision to wear armbands was optional and a last minute thing. My bro-in-law is a Liverpool fan and I always keep him going about the scousers and their sticky tape armbands - pure class!!!

Just noticed we had gaffa-tape armbands on at Stoke for the Mandela thing....not acceptable in my view, that's the sort of slipshod thing the scousers do. On previous occasions we've shown proper respect for whoever it was being remembered with a properly put together black armband. Mind you, Liverpool and West Ham didn't wear black armbands at all at the weekend.....

our squad has enough to beat Stoke, it just didn't fall into place today. i am concerned about the goals we are conceding it's so unlike us and i'm sure Jose will address that. the majority of contributors on Shedend are looking for a new striker - I'm sure we'd have won today with Lukaku up front - what we missed against a big physical defence was a big physical forward; I can't see Shawcross coping with Lukaku in full flight. I don't think there's any need to despair just yet, all things considered we are having a good season with a few low points. a little bit of strengthening up front in January and we'll be alright until the summer

that was the kind of game where we needed Lukaku up front - big and strong posing a real handful for Shawcross - i'm sure we'd have won today with Romelu up front

can anyone explain why we look so uncertain in defence? conceded 6 goals in two games to Sunderland and Stoke?? - I don't understand what's going on at the back we in both those games, admittedly against physical teams, we've looked very nervous at set pieces and prone to individual errors. Not what we've come to expect at all

More reports that Romeu is doing well at Valencia in the papers this morning. Is he a potential answer for our central midfield?

second half was one of the best performances this season. two things it showed 1: jose can still come up with a plan to turn a game around and 2: we look much more at it when we play more direct football from back to front. i thought the addition of Ba alongside Torres was key today.

i would have liked to see mata come on against basel. i've given up any hope of him getting a start but he could have helped control the game the other night

ok I can see what Jose is saying. two days rest after an evening kickoff against the hammers - they did look tired. they've 4 days break now, let's hope they're on fire on Sunday and the Bridge is rockin'
