Big problem of course now every top flight match recorded with a multitude of camera angles. Whilst in former times there would be argument or discussion about a call now within a few nano seconds of a decision it seems to be available worldwide in the pub on the beach wherever. There really is no hiding place for refs.

Thing is of 3 major decisions that day 2 were wrong it is that simple. The offside was the linesman's decision but the contact made by Ivan was fairly minimal too, though with Fergie on the side he would have been a very brave man to let it slide. On balance fair enough with Ivan. Torres was a joke decision though. So far as shooting ourselves in the foot I really am not sure that the club had any choice once a complaint was made, of course the timing with the whole JT thing was dreadful.

I was hoping we would beat Steaua 2-1 at home and so go out on away goals, was also a little disappointed Spurs beat Basel. I mean the Thursday night league who really cares. Think I will have a few creamy black pints the day we play Everton.

Interesting thread this, went to a lot of matches from the early 70's until I came home to live in the mid 80's. Much less frequent since then. I never got involved but you always had a good idea where and when it was going to happen (mind you got jumped by some Chelsea "fans" on the way home from the Hull game when we got promoted in 1977 and got all our scarves and what not nicked that was a bummer so maybe didn't always know). It could at times be pretty violent, but we are talking very different times, Stamford Bridge was not the veritable palace it is now. Portaloo's at the shed end knee deep in wee was mostly the order of the day. There was also a fair sprinkling of violence in society as a whole with the odd riot not unheard of. These guys were Chelsea / football fans it just was generally a more violent time. It is difficult to understand what it was like on the terrace for a big game being carried along by the crowd it could be a wonderful exhilaration, any one who has not experienced it I would encourage them to head off to Germany for a big Bundesliga match and get a terrace ticket. I do from time to time its great.

Personally would like to see KdB, surely Bayer wanting him so much as a replacement for Schurrle should be telling someone in Chelsea he might just be a handy player so seen as he is ours we may as well take a look at him?

Unless they start making use of a TMO then it is never going to change (remember David Elleray anyone never gave us a decision in his life and screwed us in a cup final to cap his career). But UEFA & FIFA want control be it of games decisions whatever at the highest level it is not difficult to solve have a ref (could be an experienced retired ref) watching the match in real time and let him advise the ref on the pitch. For example yesterday after the bite the ball went for a corner with all the kerfuffle a TMO would have had time for a cup of tea a few sambo's and still tell the ref on the pitch it was a red card. In Super rugby the ref can go to the TMO on just about anything and has two phases of play to call play back for review and tries have been cancelled as a result, what they want is teh best team to win with as much as possible human error taken out by referees. This need not stop the flow of the game but it has been near impossible to get goal line technology so this wont happen anytime soon, but it is difficult for a ref to see everything.

I have not thought we will make the top 4 since we gave up a two goal lead late on against high flying Reading, sadly nowt has happened to change my mind. RDM may have been lucky but top 4 would have been done and dusted by now.

I can well believe he did not see Suarez biting Ivan let's face it he saw f*ck all else if he could leave Torres on for 90 and take the two best players on the pitch off. There may have been some understanding if he replaced Haz with Lamps but Benni for the love of Jesus where the hell did that come from. We won't finish top 4 we may win the Thursday league but who really gives a flying f*ck about that

Personally I like the cut of Schurrle's jib and hope he comes along with KdB being here next season. As for Marin I really don't think we should sell him just yet, why not a loan back to Germany for a season see if he can regain full fitness and confidence he came with quite a reputation so why not give him a bit of a chance. If Torres continues to show some form (which in fairness he has of late) with Lukaku coming back and also with Ba do we really need another striker seen as we do only play with one out and out striker? Assuming of course Lukaku is coming back and not just put out on loan out again. We certainly need a top drawer centre back and possibly left and right back. Are Kalas and PvA good enough at this stage?

Well Sideshow has a decent turn of speed don't need two speedsters would certainly play him in just about all the important games

Our interim has to play JT for the rest of the season. He has hardly played claims no tiredness and if anyone can drag us over the champions league line it is him. If he is not played it is purely personal going back to FSW's Liverpool days
