I got told that before the club was established, there used to be a fish stand near the ground, and the salesman would call out 'addicks, get your addicks here' etc... dropping the 'h' like us saff Londoners do... and thats how the nickname was aquired. Back in the... 1999/2000 season there was a spoof vote given to season ticket holders about changing the club's badge, one of the options was of a fish, so I assume that rumour is pretty near the fact.

You say we're obsessed with Gerrard but by 'eck, I'd struggle to find 10 posts of yours that doesn't mention our Frank in it. Black. Kettle. Pot. PS - I think Gerrard is the most overrated player after Barton that is, now he IS as average as you can be.

As long as it is only a loan and we have the option to recall him if we need him whenever... then I say let him go for the whole season, would be good experience I feel... I think AP would give him quite a bit of playing time.

Drogba is the only reason such a poll like this exists... Otherwise comparing the two would be laughable Messi, Ronaldinho, Eto'o, Henry & Eidur... W.o.w. Hopefully Sheva will shine for us next season, and if Robben can reproduce the form he did in his first season then maybe the gap can be closed also signing Messi would help and Eidur.
