Absolutely. Bottom line is you have no idea what a pitch invader is carrying and so if he comes at a player then I would fully expect team mates to wade in. Just like if someone breaks into your home at night and you pick up whatever is to hand and spark them with it. As far as you know they could be armed with anything and there is no bloody way you should be expected to wait and find out if they are tooled up or not. It's funny you should mention that because 5live said that Drogba defending his team mate is like saying you're aloud to shoot a burglar (spelling). Makes me sick! I love that 'how many of Lampard's goals are deflected' question like it justifies Scholes or someone else being better than him. I think someone posted on here that 8% of Lampard's goals are deflected - I'm sure there are many more much higher. It seems like every oppersition fans says it now - its strange really, you spot the deflected ones but never the sweet strikes... must be those tinted specs. Scholes cannot make a tackle.
