I argue this: Schurrle has started 20 games (add on sub appearances and it's not many more) since signing June 2013. He's scored three times this season: Man City, Derby and Sporting Lisbon. Someone has to shoot from distance if oppo teams are packing the box. Fabregas won't. How many goals did Lamps score from outside the box? How many were deflections? More simply, our squad needs shooting practice. Pretty passing and trying to walk it into the goal ain't going to cut it.

Dortmund are saying no way to Reus leaving in January. It's tricky,isn't it? If Schurrle goes it weakens the squad and we ought to find a comparable (or better) replacement this window. One thing I like about Schurrle is he will shoot from distance. I'm almost certain that I'm stating the obvious here but re: Pogba (who's just signed a new deal with Juve) and Messi... I doubt there was ever any truth to the rumours and mostly it is leverage for agents looking to improve their bargaining position to get a better deal -- can't fault them for having a winning strategy for their clients though.
