Early speculation so far but it appears Schürrle could be out the door come the end of January, with Dortmund his likely destination. We're also being touted as being the likely destination for Marco Reus either in part-exchange or otherwise.

Thoughts on this? I like Schürrle but he has fallen off the radar pretty epically so far this season, granted his injury hasn't helped but still.

Schurrle isn't the same one. Last year he was excellent, but this year something is wrong with him. Untill January he still can improve himself, but I will support the idea of selling him and bringing a better replacement for him.

Schurrle for Reus in either a straight swap, swap plus cash or even 2 separate deals would make us the most transfer savvy club in any given year (Jan to Jan) bar none.

I like Schurrle and think he has a lot to offer.  He is a really effective player when there is space in behind the opposition defence.  He makes a lot of good runs and his finishing is excellent.

Where he has struggled this season is when the play is in front of him.  He has a tendency to shoot from distance rather too much and somewhat erratically.

Having said that, any sort of swap involving Reus would be well worth taking.

If it involved a swap for Reus then I would take it. Otherwise, I think he's an excellent option for us. Out of form, but still a good player when he picks it back up.

Why would Dortmund swap Reus for Schurrle

Because his release clause can be activated next summer, which about 25m and is ridiculously low for a player his calibre... and they could also risk him losing to Bayern... So I think it would be their best bet to sign Schurrle and sell us Reus.

The real question is why would Schurrle want to leave Chelsea?

I think he is perfectly happy living in London, he is on good money. Im not sure why he would want to take a drop down.

I'd take rues for schurrle in a heartbeat. Rues would be the player that would put our attack on par with madrid and barca.

Hazard, Oscar, Reus behind Costa in front of Matic and Fabregas.... f**king hell.

I really like Schurrle but it's clearly not going to work out for him here. We should only do it if we're going to go for someone like Reus in return though.

If it was true and Reus was an option I'd bite Dortmunds hands off.

Schurrle has potential but when he's not on his top game he's like a man down, Reus is a far better footballer in that respect.

Can't see it happening though

That's massively premature in my opinion. He's suffering for form but he's still a quality player.

As for the rumours about him leaving in January, is Champions League not a priority for this club? Should we not be looking to keep players like Schurrle in case of, ooh I don't know, Hazard getting injured and having to be replaced in the 18th minute of a match against someone like (off the top of my head) PSG?

Schurrle has been carrying an infection for all of October. Thus, he's not been able to perform at his full potential, so I wouldn't read too much into it.

I'd still take Reus in a heartbeat, but I'd rather we let Salah go before Andrea

I think it would be a huge mistake to let him go, one we would regret in years to come.

I really dont think hes looked any different. Problem with Schurrle is that he is a very on/off type of player. When hes on and getting passes in the right areas he looks very good because he moves well off the ball and has an excellent shot. Unfortunately he doesnt have much else in his repetoire and when things doesnt click he doesnt contribute much. He has poor close control and overall ability to pass which causes him to lose the ball a lot and his decision making seems to be lacking. Not sure we should sell him just yet, but I really dont think he has the ability to become a top class player so if Mourinho wants to move on I wobt be to fussed

People are too quick to write players off after a few games. He's struggling for form at the moment, but that's no reason to sell him. Give him time, he's only 24 and has plenty of time to improve

Think he has a lot to offer, especially off the bench

Not necessarily down to his form, like I said I like him and think he's good I just don't think Jose favours him at all.

I doubt Schurrle will leave, Mou likes him.

If there one play to leave it'll be Salah. We can sell him to Inter, better option for them than Borini.
