Luiz is only a good defender, is that what Chelsea aspire too for 30m? I don't think Cahill is the best defender in the world, do I think his better than Luiz and Ivan, that would be a yes. Reason is the trust and partnership between him and Terry. Terry doesn't need to be playing CB with someone where your having to look over your shoulder constantly because you don't trust the guy. Going forward I would play Zouma because the more he can learn of Terry the better.

Difference is Luiz has been at Chelsea before and his defending can be judged on that. I know how I personally judge his defending. Going to play in the French league where PSG win it by stupid points doesn't change my opinion. I honestly hope Luiz can do that himself, we will have to wait and see.

Ok let's get it right just for you. Everyone knows the winners of the Scottish and French leagues before they have started. Playing in the French league is not hard at all and you can't judge a player for it. The league as a whole might be ok. But PSG absolutely dominate the league with the money and players they have. It's not big achievement playing in that league.

Turnball and Van dear Sar both have champions league medals. The medals is the only comparison like O Shea and Cahill. I don't think Chelsea was spoiled at all with Alez or Luiz. They wasn't upto Cahills standard at his best specially in the league title win. Cahill and Terry was quality.

Please don't say your talking about the French league? It's nearly as bad as the Scottish league and won by Christmas. You can't use that one to make out Luiz is a good defender.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone contacted Chelsea to make them aware Luiz was available at the right price knowing how desperate they was. It looked like Luiz or the Valencia defender on loan in end. Not saying Conte didn't say yes to deal but I just can't see Conte saying I want Luiz go and get him, could be completely wrong though.

Squad is good, doubt will be good enough to beat both Manchester clubs come the end of season. My only worry is if Fabregas isn't a starter where the creativity comes from apart from Hazard. I reckon it will be noticed more in the bigger games.

Has 3 at the back ever been that successful in the premiership? I know Chelsea played it in 97 but Chelsea had a great sweeper in Leboeuf. I have seen West Ham and Liverpool use it a few times but always go back to 4 at the back.

I agree with you. Last year the transfer policy was pretty dreadful. This year the early of signings of Kante and Michy are real quality. Chelsea had all summer to enquire, bid or negotiate for a top draw CB. I just don't understand all the late bidding where clubs can request any money they seem fit. If there are not any top draw CBs or it was too much money then fair play. But how much on top off 32m would it of taken to get one. In my opinion Chelsea probably needed a CB but I would of preferred either a CB to improve the first team defence or a CB to improve the squad at a cheaper price. For me it's the middle ground where we got Luiz to improve the squad but spent too much in my opinion. Its the same example with Alonso, if he don't play it's a pointless signing. It would be over 50m spent on fullbacks when we could of got a world class one or just used Ake for the last 3 years. By the way I really hope Alonso gets a fair run in the team and Dave at RB.

Yep spent apparently 50m but some say 40m. Like the reported 60m by the papers for the Napoli defender. PSG couldn't believe there luck getting 32m back when they have 2 better defenders specially after the weekend. Theres defenders about but you just need to pay the big bucks. I don't blame Chelsea for not doing it but that's how you improve the first team. Regarding improving the squad there are plenty of defenders out there who are cheaper and can improve the squad. For 32m Luiz will be playing and that doesn't improve the team in my eyes. Just my opinion. Its been said before if 30m improves the squad then why not spend 50-60m looking for someone to improve the first team.

All I know is we have been there and done that with Luiz and there's a reason he was sold initially. No one knows if Napoli want 60m. All I said was I would of preferred Chelsea to buy a squad player for a year and go back and buy one of there main targets next year. Now they have brought Luiz the chances to buy one of those targets might of gone. Specially with Zouma and Christensen coming back. My personal view is Luiz improves the squad and not the first team. Just my opinion, i wouldn't of spent 30m to do that. Its the same with Alonso, if he don't play then Chelsea might aswell as kept Ake, played in prem, plays multiple positions.
