yes, I believe that is the case. Also Frank knows if we are or are not getting a top keeper. Even Mendy is being touted as a number 2. With that said, I think Frank knows the situation and that we are building a better team out in front of Kepa, so we've got another year of him and Frank's trying to put some fire in his belly. Also DDG is a good simile as didn't Kepa bounce him as Spain's #1?

This is what I feel people are overlooking. If we get a keeper it is Mendy and is he going to be automatic first choice? Right now we know that Caballero is #2, and we know that Kepa is suffering mentally. Therefore, I think Frank is having to gee up Kepa with a stance of "you're our number one keeper, lad!" Last thing Kepa needs is more doubt hanging over him

A frustrating first half where I felt we were lucky to be ahead, and I didn't bemoan Brighton their equalizer as I thought they deserved it. To be honest, I'm not sure how much Kepa could have done about their goal, to me it spawned from a little earlier when Loftus Cheek was wandering around aimlessly and let some passes go about unchallenged. I think that the defenders actually played quite well, with both Christensen continuing his good form from the Denmark game, and then Zouma putting in a no nonsense display that I think could be very good alongside Silva. The main stand out in the first half was undoubtedly Timo. He was everywhere, and I could see him playing a wide role with the likes of Tammy or Giroud being effective too. Their goal was a good one, and I felt on the display of the night it was deserved. But James' was the shot in the arm we needed. At that point I knew the Seagulls were done for (despite the chances they still had). And then I think Zouma topped off a good performance with his scuffed goal. Havertz is tough to judge after only being with the team for about 4 days, but if he develops at the rate Timo has, then I'll be more than happy with that. I just don't know what formation we can play that would see Timo, Ziyech, Havertz, and Mount all play? Can I also add, that if we don't get Rice, can we just move James into the mid? I like him as a player, and what a way to open your Premiership account with Chelsea; however, I don't think he has the pace for RB, and Azpi will not be around forever. I could see RB being a spot of focus for us in the next transfer (summer) window.

I hope they watched him all game. He was everywhere, fought for everything. I'd love a formation that suits him and the new signings, but not sure what that is.
