Chelsea vs Newcastle United (PL) Saturday 14th March 17:30 GMT
I like a 5.30 TV game. Get all up for it. Son comes over, get a takeaway and enjoy watching the super blues. Not tonight though. That was poor and now we're both thoroughly pissed off and wondering where our club is heading. Other than Palmer, the rest were bang average. So little creativity, so ponderous and no urgency. We never looked like scoring. Defence was all over the place - both Trev and Fofana deserve to be dropped. Another 90 minutes from Enzo which amounted to f**k all. Pedro hardly had a kick. Garnacho reminding everybody why we shouldn't have signed him. It was all just so sh*te with little on the bench to change anything. That game summed up how I feel about football in general right now. Boring.

MOTM vs Newcastle (H) (PL)
Palmer. Still far from his best, but the only one who looked dangerous and able to create anything. The rest were all either poor or bang average.

Goalkeepers!!
One who gets forgotten and not surprising as he wasn't with us that long was Frode Grodas. Don't remember a huge amount about him other than he was the keeper when we ended our long trophy drought when we won the FA Cup against Boro in 97 - up to that point, one of the happiest days of my life as a Chelsea supporter and was revenge for them relegating us in 88.

Enzo Fernandez - Officially a Blue!
That's exactly how I see it. He has the habit of popping up with goals (which is a great habit to have), but too often, games do seem to pass him by and you need a lot more than that from a player that plays 90 minutes nearly every game and that's before even taking into account the price tag (which I know is not down to him). Good attitude / team spirit, decent squad player but would like to see him rotated a lot more.

Reece James
Hmmmm.......................... Wonder what 2 CB's we will go for this week. None of them covering themselves in glory recently. Think I would go for Sarr and Acheampong but zero chance of that happening.

Reece James
Starting tomorrow against the Bar-Codes. Don't want to see Gusto up against Anthony Gordon to be honest.

Cole Palmer signs for Chelsea!
Bowen is in better form than anyone right now. And right now, even Maduake appears to look better than Saka.

Cole Palmer signs for Chelsea!
Saka's form has been dreadful this season. No way is he a guaranteed starter for England on his current form.

Enzo Fernandez - Officially a Blue!
I don't want to be too critical of Enzo as he was one of our better performers last night and yet I found myself constantly moaning at his decision making. A couple of badly miss placed passes - I turned to my son and said who was that who gave the ball away? Enzo. Then there was the break where I think Palmer was free on the right, yet he played it to Neto on the left, who was too wide and didn't even get a shot away. And the other time he had Palmer to his right in a good position but he chose to shoot and put it miles over the bar. When I was moaning about him my son said, yes, he's not great but he'll probably pop up with a goal - and of course he did. Enzo getting picked all the time takes me back to days gone by. Used to get mad when John Hollins started leaving out the likes of Pat Nevin & Micky Hazard, but would play Darren Wood every game. Then years later when Mourinho kept on leaving out Joe Cole and instead would select the more workmanlike Tiago. Boy our coaches have annoyed and frustrated me over the years!!

Goalkeepers!!
Think that was the first time I ever heard a Chelsea player boo'd (other than the racist ones). Did he ever play another game for us after that - I can't remember? Think I might still take Beasant over our current keepers though!

Chelsea vs Newcastle United (PL) Saturday 14th March 17:30 GMT
That's because the football we played was so mind-numbingly dull that even the opposition got bored and couldn't be bothered.

Enzo Fernandez - Officially a Blue!
MOTM? Fair play, he did get an assist and a goal but I also lost count of the times he gave the ball away or picked the pass or shot when he should have passed etc etc.................................

Goalkeepers!!
During the great John Neal era we had Eddie Niedzwiecki, who was decent. Of course there was Ed De-Goey (pornstar!) and Dave Beasant (and that dreadful game v Norwich where he made the sort of errors Sanchez and Jorgensen would be proud of). We were so spoilt having Cech and then Courtois. Two of the best keepers to play the game. We HAVE to get another keeper for next season. Don't know if we have anything in the pipeline and how good Penders is, but I would take Pickford or Henderson to wear the No.1 jersey come August. Both would be huge upgrades on what we currently have.

Cole Palmer signs for Chelsea!
Think that is going way too far as he's still one of the first names on the team sheet just down to what he can offer in terms of passing and vision. But there is no doubting he isn't the match-winner that he was. That's not confidence as the lad has that in abundance but it's this injury that clearly needs surgery or a long rest. As I said in the other thread, so annoying that he has lost that ability to get away from opponents like he was doing - now he just seems to get smothered and rarely gets away from them. And because of that, he too is now taking easy option and often just keeps it simple or passes back, when you want him going forward ALL of the time. Just yet another frustration to add to a season that is full of them.

There are no easy answers when you don't have the keeper or defenders good enough on the ball. Although I am no fan, I get why coaches want to try and play out from the back. If you kick it long, invariably the ball keeps coming back at you fairly quickly as it did last night when we did kick long. IF you have a keeper or defenders who CAN play accurate passes to the middle 99 times out of 100, we do have players like Palmer, Santos and Lavia who are great at receiving and then opening the opposition up. Even last night, before the disaster struck, at times it was squeeky-bum time but we did manage to move the ball well, but you just knew, at some point we wouldn't be so lucky and we'd get punished and so it turned out. The defenders are as much to blame for not being any good either so taking the easy option and passing it back to the keeper. Jorgensen, Sanchez, it really doesn't matter - same outcome. Colwill and Acheampong look a whole lot better bringing the ball out. Can only hope they both feature more next season.

Following Our Nearest And Dearest Rivals 2025/26
Love how many see Harry Redknapp as Spur's saviour. He's nearly 80 and has been out of the game for how long? Go on Harry - take them down...........................!!

I would usually agree with this but at 2-2, although we were tiring, before the Jorgensen howler, we looked comfortable and with our options on the bench it's easy to see why LR didn't make changes. Without Estevao, we just don't have the quality the likes of PSG have. Maybe put Santos and Acheampong on but as much as I rate Lavia, he still looks a bit rusty after the long layoff. As for Delap, I really was hoping he would come good but he so looks like a Championship level player right now.

Robert Sanchez joins Chelsea
Maybe he had your vote but he never had mine. I agree, this season he has been better but he is still not a keeper you can truly rely on. Too many rushes of blood, flaps at corners and his passing out is as bad, if not worse than Jorgensen's. I don't want to see either of them in the squad when we go into next season as otherwise you just know we will be having exactly the same discussions again. WE NEED BETTER.

Robert Sanchez joins Chelsea
Are we talking the same Sanchez who let in such a soft goal against Arsenal and then tried to claim he was fouled, despite no-one being anywhere near him?

Paris Saint-Germain vs Chelsea (UCL) Wednesday 11th March 20:00 GMT
One of those games you can't get out of your head and I'm going to be mulling it over all day. At 2-2 we looked comfortable(ish) and even 2-3 would have been a decent result. Just how we capitulated is so annoying, but so Chelsea. Two big errors cost us, first Jorgensen and then Reece James and that's the margins when you are playing against sides as good as PSG. Even their second goal, errors by Chalobah and then poor defending by Fofana. We could have done with Palmer having one of "those" games, but although he did okay, he's still not reaching previous levels. In the first couple of seasons, he had this thing where although he doesn't have great pace, he just used to get away from opponents and make himself a yard or two. Now it just doesn't seem to happen. Probably still down to him needing surgery but boy, a fully functional Palmer would make such a difference.

Robert Sanchez joins Chelsea
Reading the posts after last nights game on here and on X, you could be forgiven in thinking we have an absolutely World Class keeper in Sanchez and LR made the biggest mistake ever made in football by playing Jorgensen. People have such short memories. Just because Sanchez didn't play last night, that doesn't mean that he has all of a sudden become a top keeper. A Top keeper has to be a recruitment priority before we kick a ball next season.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Chelsea (UCL) Wednesday 11th March 20:00 GMT
Oh well. To be honest, we never stood a chance of winning the CL this season so we may as well put all our efforts into winning the FA Cup and finishing top 4.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Chelsea (UCL) Wednesday 11th March 20:00 GMT
After putting in so much effort and playing so well for 70 + minutes, to lose 5-2 really hurts. Tie is over when we should be going back to The Bridge level. The team Individual errors cost us dearly yet again. The 11 were clearly tiring but there were so few options on the n[bench whereas PSG were able to change the game with their subs. So disappointing. Getting a Top Level Keeper in for next season looking like a priority again.

Liam Rosenior - Chelsea Head Coach *Now Sacked*
Give him better players and he will - no problem. PSG are CL holders and a very good side and we more than matched them for 70 minutes. We lost due to poor keeper error, Reece messing up and PSG having a lot more quality to bring on to change the game.
