That is a proper photo CB. Apparantly they gave the Maltzers a going over in 82. According to the papers ( load of bollox), they put the windows in and climbed through them. Why didn’t they just use the door.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek
The sum of his parts falls short of where he is at the moment. He’s got great qualities which hopefully one day he’ll make the best of, but football like life is full of people who never quite fulfilled their potential.

March 73 fans queuing outside a Camden cinema to watch Chelsea v Arsenal, FA Cup QF. Apparantly it was shown at 6 London picture houses, demand due to limited capacity at the Bridge- East Stand being rebuilt.

I’d say a good 8 out of 10 Fulham fans live south of the River, in places like Worcester Park and Ewell. When people move out to the burbs, they normally stay on the same side of the river- East End people to Essex, S.E London to Kent. The only exceptions to this I can think of is Fulham and Pimlico, who seemed to have crossed the river en masse and settled in Surrey. Was talking to one of the old Battersea firm a while back- he couldn’t think of anyone who was part of that group that still lives there.

Not as good as the Likely Lads film- Porridge, Auf Wiedersein Pet and the Likely Lads were all written by Clement and Le Frenais- Terry’s fishing, Bob turns up looking morose Terry- “ Id give you one of me beers but I’ve only got 6 left!”

I always thought people who drank on the boozers at the bottom end of the Kings Rd ( The Adelaide, Rose, Palmerston, etc), tended to be South London who drove over Wandsworth/ Battersea Bridges, whilst those who got in the pubs round Fulham Broadway and North End Rd were from West London and everywhere else. I still get a tingle when I walk around Imperial Square, Bagleys Lane, Lots Rd and all around there. Funnily enough I’m about to move to Wandsworth Putney borders ( trial separation from the long haired general). Bevause of changing demographics, I reckon where I’m moving from ( North Surrey), is now more of a Chelsea stronghold than Wandsworth way.

Grouty’s henchman “ Crusher” was Millwall no doubt. There was also an episode when Godber has a ruck with Jarvis, who apparently used to supervise violence on the Stratford End.

Lots Road Power Station. The slummy end of the Kings Rd back then.

Rodney Bewes ( Bob Ferris from the Likely Lads), used to be part of the show business crowd that went to the Bridge in the 70s funnily enough. Over the years I’ve seen at Chelsea Phil Daniels, Johnny Vaughn, Seb Coe and last but not least, the geyser from Footballers Wives/ Eldorado, Jesse Birdsall.

I’m contradicting myself because Norman Stanley Fletcher was Spurs. Also on the first episode of Auf Wiedersein Pet Ozz hazards a guess that Wayne the cockney was Tottenham- something to do with his large hooter possibly.

I stand corrected. I think the reason so many TV characters were Fulham was because no one hates Fulham. Had they been say West Ham or Spurs it might put the audience off.

His Showbusiness 11 were pretty busy in the 80s. In Minder his character Terry was a Chelsea fan ( as he was), but in the Sweeney DC Carter was a Fulham fan. There’s an episode where he says to Regan “ Fancy going to Craven Cottage to watch 22 blokes kick a bit of leather?”

Who was the first Chelsea player or players 'you were ' in the school playground as a kid ?
When Drogba first arrived he didn’t win people over immediately, but remember watching him in a warm up and thinking this man has gotta come good. Was well impressed with his skill and the way he moved, especially for a big brute of a bloke.

Where will we finish this coming season? And what will be your top 6?
What’s our best ever start to a season I wonder? Loving it so far. It seems like a happy camp. Edit- 2014/2015 W10 D3 was pretty convincing......

The only time my Mum went she got vertigo in the top tier of the East Stand and left to go shopping on the Kings Rd after about 10 minutes. Same day- my old man was waiting outside the Pelican for me to turn up- West Ham FA Cup 2001 I think- went to a replay- a dozen or so West Ham turned up giving it the biggun- starting going off around him- he got a good couple of digs in himself apparently- would have been 68 at the time! Edit- he despised football hooliganism but just got “ caught up in it”

There’s some good story’s about the boys spending the night in Blackpool after the Bolton game. About 100 of them stayed in a big hotel- punch ups with bouncers, fire alarms going off- next morning at breakfast a well known face approached a table of straight laced holiday makers- stuck a bread knife into their table “ what one of you ..... kept us up all night then?”

Quite right- compare the shirtless torsos of the Wolves players in the tunnel with today’s ripped specimens- not a lot of gym work back then- just running probably. My first time in Gate 13 was the opening home game v Wolves- midweek 82- went to Wolves for the return in January which was one of the coldest games I’ve attended. The old South Bank was truly massive. Believe it was bigger than the Holte and the Kop

FA Cup Semi at Villa Park v Man U 96 was a bad one- we weren’t blase about winning things back then like these days, and everyone was well pissed off with the result. Massive mob out that day.

It’s been spoken about before but when the specials were “dry” you used to see bottles of fizzy drinks taken on board half full of spirits, plus bags of oranges injected with vodka. A couple of times I’ve had to watch games with one eye closed otherwise there’d be two of every player. A fairly well known Chelsea fan in the past we’ve had to walk through to the turnstiles with one on each shoulder otherwise he’d had fallen over. A funny one was the league cup final against Arsenal in sometime in the noughties- early kick off in Cardiff- coach picked us up at 6 in the morning at Wimbledon- mad looking loner in the front seat drinking neat vodka out of a paper cup! Can’t ever remember coming home from a cup final anything other than legless- your either celebrating or commiserating- win or loose we’re on the booze!

Great find. A fans eye view. Like the roll of karzi paper- sorry “streamers” as they were known that got thrown from the Shed. ( Think similar got slung from the Stretford End during the 70s replay) One of those things you don’t see at football anymore- checklist before leaving the house for a game- wallet, fags, bog roll.....

Does anybody have any information about this old mirror?
They came from the Ardale Centre Wandsworth circa 77. Myself and my 2 brothers had one each- remember at the time quabbling over who had the one with the footballs in the corner rather than corner flags. The shop was on the top floor, and was great for CFC sew on patches, badges and general Chelsea parafanalia.

We were coming back on the Special from somewhere out West ( Maybe Swindon) around that time. Went past Hungerford Station. Some wag reckoned Bobby Sands lived there.
