    I stopped reading after the line that says we’ve fallen behind tottenham ?!?!   I quote;
      Why couldn’t Chelsea do this? They spent their way to success under Abramovich, yet have fallen behind Liverpool and even Tottenham Hotspur, clubs who have not always spent as big and certainly not as consistently as Chelsea.

    Apart from Hazard leaving our squad actually improves this season with the return of zouma over Cahill, James over Zappa, Tammy and Bats over Higuain and Mount over Kova. When RLC and CHO return we will have a healthy looking squad. Players like Emerson and Jorginho have had time to get used to the demands of the Prem and will be the better for the experience. Plus the addition of Pulisic. Hopefully goals will be shared around a bit more.
    Im going for 3rd again but if it is Lamps and we finish 8th in his 1st season i for one will still be supporting him to be our manager next season

    We have to seriously consider Frank. He may refuse the job initially because of a desire to get a bit more experience under his belt but momentum in a career is very important. He was successful at Derby and it appears he has a good working relationship with Jody Morris. They appear to be a team and this is also very important. If the results turn bad at some point they would have each other to consult with. They would not be alone and it wouldn't surprise me if Frank senior and uncle Harry had some good advice along the way either. Frank has proven himself to be a smart manager by improving a mediocre Derby team into Championship contenders in one season. They beat Man Utd and Southampton and gave Chelsea a good run for their money last season. Had Aston Villa not smashed them twice they would probably have got automatic promotion.
    What would happen if Frank stayed at Derby? He could get his head down and work hard all season only to miss out on promotion again. He might not but the risk is failure would make him be seen as less of a manager for some time. Anything could happen but another two seasons in the Championship would make him appear a very ordinary prospect. Why risk that when he virtually has a free shot a Chelsea because of the transfer ban. If he missed top six I don't think anybody would hold it against him. Missing out in the transfer market completely, along with losing the clubs best player would challenge any manager. Roman might want to pull the trigger but even he would surely think twice about sacking a manager of Frank's legendary status after one season. Even if he did Frank would come out of it with honours to fight another day.
    It can be seen as the romantic choice but when I imagine the effect of Frank and Jody walking into Cobham I think they could pull it off. They're not a pair of bullish dictators. They know the mentality of premier league players and youth players and would know how to treat them. Jody knows most of the young players and Frank knows a few of the seniors. Between them I think they could cultivate a team ethic with a mixture experience and youth. This won't be just a couple of old players coming home. Frank isn't just a club legend, he is a Premier League legend. He always had confidence in his own ability and backed that up with, by all accounts with a second to none work ethic. The two of them will create some long overdue continuity in the club and at a time when we have a good selection of highly skilled young players coming through.
    Imagine Frank and Jody stepping out on the pitch for the first home match at Stamford Bridge. The whole crowd would generate an atmosphere not seen at Chelsea  before. Imagine. A club with continuity and youth. We have been bashed by other supporters for years because our success is perceived to have been bought. We could shake that reputation off with Frank and Jody. We could change the face of the premier league by using young players and not relying on Galacticos and the City model. Roman and the board must seriously consider the potential for a new model here. The transfer ban really does limit the type of manager they can attract and Frank and Jody offer a good alternative.

    I know - ridiculous to consider. I mean, it didn’t work out when Barcelona took that chance with Pep or Real Madrid with Zidane. Bonkers...
    doesnt always pay off (giggs, shearer etc), but why not? Can’t be any worse than our usual short term plan of hire n fire. (Albeit sarri not fired) .

    What other options are there out there with a transfer ban and a season that we will be forced to filter in youth to make a success? A club legend who would gain immediate respect from these players and an assistant in Jody who has managed these exact players to great success for the last few years.

    We would be fools to not attempt to bring that team in and I think we will. I think the only thing that would stop that would be if frank decided it was too soon for him.

    I'm another one who'd like Ten Hag as manager if Sarri leaves.
    If not Ten Hag it has to be someone who is going to start bringing our talented youth through. Lampard or Eddie Howe.

    Firstly, i don’t see why you automatically assume ‘blooding a load of youngsters’ will mean finishing 10th..

    and also, I agree pep and zidane both inherited top sides  however lamps wouldn’t exactly Be inheriting a mid table side if he were to take over here.

    This is a side that has just finished 3rd, got to league cup final, and won the europa league. Yes, we are losing our best player. BUT, we also have a group of young players most sides would dream of having coming through the ranks winning trophies as they come. I hardly think that this is a dire side and we have been in worse positions in the last 16 years imo.

    This transfer ban will be a blessing in disguise.

    If lamps doesnt want the job id call up Eddie Howe and ask him to pack his bags because he would be An ideal fit for our side at the moment.
