I don't think he was ever an option. Athletico have always been incredibly reluctant to let go of Aguero, I doubt they would've unless we offered £50million+.

Like Hutch said, £50million for Torres doesn't sound so bad when you compare it to £35million for Carroll.

3 films in the past two days. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - standard. Catfish - the most interesting of the lot. It's a documenary (supposedly, I'm still doubting its credibility as a documentary, everything seems far too convenient) about this man who meets a girl on Facebook, develops a relationship with her, never actually meeting her, but also developing a relationship with her family. It gets very creepy at one point, as you begin to wonder about the motives of the main character, and sudden revelations as the film goes on make it a very interesting watch, and very apt considering our cyber-dominated current state of affairs. Scarface - hated it, hated it, hated it. I was told my my flatmate that it's brilliant, it's anything but. I spent all TWO HOURS AND FORTY MINUTES waiting for some sort of story to happen, it never did, the only attempt at it is Tony becoming this drug lord. You literally could've cut about an hour out of this film, there were so many pointless scenes that had no relevance to the not-very-big picture, and it seemed that 156 minutes of it was simply build up to the last 4 minutes ("Say hello to my little friend!" (a moment I was hoping to be amazing, was simply him saying the line, then blowing up a door.)) of quite disappointing and incredibly unrealistic action (I swear Tony must get hit about 300 times by about 12 people's machine guns shooting at him, but he still shouted down to his attackers afterwards...). Shocking film, Al Pacino was just plain weird as the main character, and it seems that the director put drugs in every scene just because he could. Absolutely woeful film.

This is so frustrating. I hope we're not putting all our eggs in one basket with Torres. I'd like to sign him, but if it is a smoke screen where we buy 5 players worth £10million each, then I'm game.

It seems I'm alone on this one, but I really can't see a downside to signing Torres - just as long as we don't lose Anelka! £50million is a lot of money, but I genuinely think it's worth it. His league goal/game ratio is quite astounding, it's higher than 1 goal every 2 games! He will have his injuries, yes, but if we keep Anelka then we'll have to worries about leaving him fully recover, like Liverpool have been forced to do for so long. It's really, really gathering steam now, I just hope it gets done sooner rather than later.

If this is going to happen, I'd like it to be done tonight, rather than a last minute deadline day thing.

That seems to be the only thing that everyone is against about this transfer - Torres' injuries. Yes, he does get injured, but think about the big picture. Signing Torres in this transfer window would surely mean Carlo wants to try 2 up front, Drogba and Torres. Whether it be a diamond, or a standard 4-4-2, we'll have to see. But, putting Drogba and Torres up front means Anelka will drop to the bench, alongside Kalou/Sturridge (unless he's a makeweight, which I really don't want) so we'll have more cover in general. PLUS, when we pull Torres off for Anelka/Kalou, we can revert back to a 4-3-3. Meaning, with this signing, we'll have the option of a PLAN B! Bizarrely, after I wrote that, Torres seems far more appealing...
