  1. apparently these are the new plans for the 'new anfield' not quite sure how legit they are yet, but interested to see what you think of them...
  2. cant talk on behalf of the mods, or the administrator for his decision, and admittedly there arent many opposition fans on that site per se, but those that do come are generally everton fans who are nothing but nobs. Blue to a liverpool fan is Everton, not chelsea, that i imagine will be behind the reason. Try again with a different user name, maybe chelsea related rather than blue, and i reckon you'll have a better chance.
  3. I edited it for you Lofty, i hate to see spelling mistakes. Typical Scouse behaviour - bending the truth (in this case an actual quote) to suit how you'd like it to be. As, of course, you'd like to be optimistic about your future. But then self-delusion is another well-known Scouse trait. So far we have: Passing the buck Distorting facts Self-delusion Spelling mistakes? I'm sure you are. Doesn't the Shift key work on your computer or what? nice one mate. credit you with that one.
  4. Oh, okay, the century in which only one British team has won a European trophy, and it aint Chelsea!! Oh, scrap that, I shouldnt have said 'a' european trophy should I?
  5. I edited it for you Lofty, i hate to see spelling mistakes.
  6. first time ive seen it lofty, havent checked the head to heads out yet, but thanks for letting me know. Does it include European cup head to heads? Especially looking forward to how we got on against you in those European cup finals. Oh, no, wait...
  7. That is the point that got me thinking as well Rob - the last thing you want as a club is for a load of new players to miss the lions share of pre-season training as it can have a knock on effect for quite a while after the season has started. That is why although our signings have all been fairly low key I am glad we have them in place now so that they start pre-season with the rest of the squad. I wouldn't want to be in anothe rposition like we were with Ashley Cole where he joined at the last second before the transfer window closed. What is the feeling amongst Liverpool fans about why this supposed caoital injection seems to be slow in coming to fruition? feelings vary and i think it depends on what you choose to beleive from the info the papers have pushed out. It is difficult as no-one actually knows what is going on behind the scenes, despite some 'connected' people letting on what they know. It would seem that there is something going on between the two guys over who will be represented on the board and in what authority, although Gillette has tried to dispell this. I'm starting to get worried but then there are these continual links to malouda and torres (amongst others) for big money, so i dont know. We have to wait til the end of the window to really assess and see if they 'put up' or not, but i am getting frustrated (and that is one general feeling amongst fans) at the time it is taking to get people in. having said all that, i dont want us to buy too many players, despite the need to strengthen a number of areas. I would rather we prioritised the most important areas and spent proper money on them than doing what we have done before and buying for all of the positions at the bracket below. If we sign a top class winger (dont personally know if malouda fits that bill or not, although i am concerned at players from france after the finger burning we have had in the past) and a real goalscorer (again, i dont think Torres is an out and out goal machine, his stats certainly dont suggest he is) then leave the rest with a couple of squad players like benayoun coming in, i'll be chuffed. We have more chance of challenging with a couple of class additions that we do bringing in a whole host of players similar in level to those they would replace.
  8. the transwer window as a whole has been surprisingly slow, not only because of the supposed investment at the clubs you mentioned, but also the massive TV deal. I the spanish league finishing delays deals there, but there has been pretty much f**k all anywhere. I seriously hope we start to do something and i am beginning to get a little concerned. Pre season is only about 2-3 weeks away now and the last thing you want is for new signings to miss out on the chance to integrate into the team in this period.
  9. would seriously doubt it, it was us who brought it to the attention of the league. if you remember it took us f**king months, even after fifa had agreed to it, for us to get his registration authorised.
  10. i'm not a fan, i think he is pretty incompetent. I think he is a liar and a politician, which is not what i want at my club. Dont think he is sticking his nose in here though, he has obviously been asked to provide a statement or information due to his involvement in the Mascherano deal.
  11. it was when we tried to sign Mascherano that the issues with his registration were spotted by our club and reported to the premier league, so i guess he was a witness.
  12. fowler wasnt signed last season, he was free and he had a decent return of goals to games played, so no.Berbatov is a classy player, but christ, people ar going well over the top creaming themselves about him for some reason. He is a nice player to watch but didnt exactly score a hatful of goals. did you see the question mark? <<<<< look there's another one. with regards to Fowler, seeing as he had "a decent return of goals to games played" Rafa will be bending over backwards to keep him then?<<<< no need to get upset, i was just putting you straight. the fact you included a question mark, i am guessing you were asking a question, were you? If you were, i answered it i reckon. Not worth keeping him, but he wasnt the worst signing we have made in the last 2 years, never mind the worst in the prem.
  13. fowler wasnt signed last season, he was free and he had a decent return of goals to games played, so no. 15 goals, wasn't it? p.s. how many goals without penalties? 12 goals in 32 since re-signing, which isnt bad as plenty of those appearances were as sub. As i say, not his former glories, but not bad really, certainly not the worst signing in the prem.
  14. fowler wasnt signed last season, he was free and he had a decent return of goals to games played, so no.Berbatov is a classy player, but christ, people ar going well over the top creaming themselves about him for some reason. He is a nice player to watch but didnt exactly score a hatful of goals.
  15. But our squad doesnt need a major overhaul, Liverpool's does. a major overhaul is exactly what it doesnt need. It needs 2-3 TOP class players adding, and until we decide to do that instead of buying 5-6 decent/good players each season we are going to continue to struggle. Not overly happy about this deal although i do rate the player, just think we dont seem to have the money we were expecting to have and so would rather put it to better use than this. The only way i would like yossi is if it was yossi plus cash for bellamy. I am hoping that spurs get Bent over west ham so they will then really perse bellamy, but west hams contract offer may well be too good to turn down for a young lad.
  16. that record is a given then. bar stewards!
  17. seen a leak of our fixtures, may well be bullsh*t, but it says we have you at anfield 3rd game, august 18th. as i say, could well be sh*te. we'll soon see i suppose.
  18. which are your favourite stadiums? I f**king love the Allianz Arena in Munich, think it looks class, but then again the new valencia one will be phenominal. Just interested what are your favourite grounds. Old ones included if need be.
  19. but i have never been trying to excuse the bahaviour of THOSE liverpool fans on the night. Not at any point. I have been trying to excuse the actions of my club and stating that the other factors need to hold their hands up as much, if not more than my club does. Thing is I could accept some of that, right up until the point you say because that is total rubbish. Liverpool can only be considered less to blame than other authorities if you totally disassociate the club from the fans and that is something that has never happened and never will happen in football. A club is always held accountable for their fans behaviour. By saying Liverpool are possibly less to blame than other authorities you are, in effect, saying Liverpool fans are less to blame than the other authorities and that simply isn't true. That is a total (pardon the pun) Kop out. When fans misbehave clubs take the flack, it is the way things are. These were your fans, therefore your club takes the blame. in that case it is a misunderstanding, becuase although i agree that the club and the fans are as one and share responsibility, the whole way through this debate they have been used as separate sticks to beat me (us) with. I will rewrite that final sentence... "other factors need to hold their hands up as much, if not more than the club does, but nowhere near as much as those fans involved do."
  20. and i will continue to say "but...", Barn. To me there is a huge difference between what i am saying and this article. Lofty has summarised by saying but i have never been trying to excuse the bahaviour of THOSE liverpool fans on the night. Not at any point. I have been trying to excuse the actions of my club and stating that the other factors need to hold their hands up as much, if not more than my club does.
  21. lofty, are you sure you read my posts. I agree with your summary and have never disagreed.
  22. as i said, i didnt expect you to agree, and although i want everyone to respect us, most of you held us in contempt long before now and although you say this loz, how many people would change their opinion of us (honestly) if we did as you say. I'm guessing sod all. I also doubt that this is getting this sort of scrutiny in other lands other than the headlines which will have been there straight after the game and in the aftermath of the mud slinging, therefore i think it is necessary to be looking to clear our name as much as possible (or at least preventing it from being further muddied) and making the appropriate statement at the appropriate time, not just for face but with genuine intent and meaning. As i said you wont agree but i think as much will be acheived if i am honest.
  23. the pm i sent isnt showing up in the sent items so dont know if that means he didnt get it. Cant remember exactly what i wrote. I'll have another crack hoping that my reply this time is similar. Basically as i said, i wasnt meaing to offend when i spoke of ignorance, it is just that many people are towards that incedent. I dont like to see Hillsborough lumped in with Heysel as it was definitively the police who were to blame that day. Even if there had not been a single person that went through those gates without a ticket the same tragedy would have have happened, not that the opening of the gates wasnt in part due to the high numbers of people there (with or without tickets) but it was the opening of the gates that caused the crush. I appreciate what he did with regard to the memorial and think his efforts were valiant and i am sure hugely appreciated by the majority of fans and certainly by those affected. With regard to my comment on beleiveing what you read in the s*n, that wasnt specifically aimed at him, as he says i dont know him, but too many do beleive the lies perpetuated by that rag to this day and even if only one person still beleived them it would be too many for my liking. I know at least one person on here (honourable mention to you c3blu!) continues to spout that bullsh*t so i was just trying to eradicate it. with regard to heysel i didnt reply to that as i have said what i think numerous times before and i cannot justify the actions of those involved, it was disgraceful and although other factors added to the problems we have to take the blame (and most reds do seem to acnkowledge that). As for chelsea semi at OT, i wasnt there, i cant really comment. I know reds who got aggro from chelsea fans that day, so its who'd story you choose to listen to, not that i am refusing to listen to your story. finally i cant argue with what he said about Parry, his comments were ill thought out (if thought out at all) but i know i am not alone as a liverpool fan who does not like Rick Parry or trust Rick Parry to act in the best interests of liverpool fans. as a cheif exec of a football club he seems to have his priorities in the worng places often. The last item about the club and fans taking responsibilty, i have covered this before in the thread surely. Something should be done and judging from the comments following the meeting of Platini and Caborn something will be going on with the clubs involvement. With regard to the fans that were at the centre of it, i dont know what can be done. The club should probably make a statement but i think it will wait until the next high profile game of this nature rather than now and continuing to keep this in the news and carrying on rubbing our name in the dirt. I think that is an understandable approach, even if not one that you will be happy with.
