Yep this is a worthy thread. Carvalho has had a great season for us. In fact i reckon at the moment he is our most important defender (i still feel JT is at about 75%) and during our captains absence i thought he really stepped up. The biggest compliment i can give him is that he now seems ready for ALL games. He was always solid against Man Utd or Arsenal or the European teams that keep the ball on the deck but i always used to worry about him if we were playing Bolton etc. Well not any more. However following on from what just wrote (was in after the Fulham game April 2005??) i still would choose Billy The Silly Gooner over him in a heartbeat - in fact going back to the 2004-5 season i think that was our best defence ever, particularly in the first half of the season when our back line was mainly Bridge/JT/Gallas/Paulo - i actually think that is the best defence i have ever seen at Chelsea. To be fair later in the season when Bridge got injured and Gallas moved to left back Carvalho did play his part but not quite at the important level he is at now. Well done Riccy. Has anyone else noticed just how much Andy Gray loves him by the way ?

No gloom from me. Id have taken that result at 7-45 last night. Yes i think we wasted a chance to finish it there and then and i certainly dont think Liverpool will play that badly again at Anfield but we are in an excellent position. Liverpool will be stronger next week - i expect Crouch to start and i think the big one will be if Finnan returns, which will allow Riise to go back to left midfield. However we will have Essien and maybe Ballack back too. It is going to be a big night thats for sure.

No it wont be an easy game on Tuesday and all we are going to hear about for the next 6 days is the 'Anfield Roar' (that and Joses penalty moan) However, our players will be prepared for it this time. Lets not forget Liverpool scored within 3 mins of the last semi final, and that changed EVERYTHING, the dynamic of the game and of course the crowd. If we can keep it tight early doors we are laughing. Essien will make a world of a difference up there. . It will be very interesting to see what our midfield is next week if Ballack is fit. I hope Liverpool play that comedy right back again by the way.
