Commentator said Chelsea! Wish I understood Portuguese! :P

Sorry missed this. Yes the defending is a lot better than I expected. They've clearly identified him as the main threat and have him marked at all times. I've seen him beat multiple players before forcing a foul several times already. Certainly not a one trick pony.

Created that goal out of absolutely nothing. I don't know where this attitude rumour is coming from either, he gets fouled constantly and never seems to complain. That idiot taking the free kicked shooed him off and he didn't complain and you can't fault his work rate. Class, class player.

Watching it now he looks a class apart when he has the ball. Like the look of their right back too, he hasn't put a foot wrong.
  5. If we have to put up with Harry for a year I want Modric in the deal.

But Roman didn't account for the Villas-Boas factor!

Where are all these ninja essay writers coming from?! Its bad enough reading Dorset's stuff! :D Seriously though our forums are the pride of football. Take a look at how they debate on any of our rivals, we're a class apart. On the Carlo topic I feel like a dead horse is being repeatedly flogged now. People aren't going to change their minds on whether they feel he was right to go or not.
  8. My thoughts exactly. According to my friend (Atletico fan) he's even been used in a deeper creative midfield role to success. He is able to adapt to almost anything you ask him to do which is one of his big strengths apparently.

Carlo himself said that if he was to be sacked, he wanted to get it done with quickly.

What exactly is grinding your gears? I think Hutch among other people have proven beyond reasonable doubt that the club acted in the most professional manner possible with this issue and most people are aggrieved on an emotional level for no good reason. It was a business decision as they say, don't take it personally.
  11. Thread prompted me to rewatch 2005. Jesus tapdancing Christ was that a game.
  12. I was speaking to a friend of mine who watches him frequently being a fan and learned something I honestly didn't know. Apparently Aguero is a much more complete attacker than I thought. He can play in any forward position including wide in a 433, an out and out winger and even an attacking midfielder. Much more versatile player than I was lead to believe.
  13. I wouldn't pay £40m for him. News has it City aren't in any hurry for him either, perhaps Tevez is staying. There is no way he'll go to Real. The Italian clubs are a possibility but only heard Juventus who aren't an improvement to where he is now. Liverpool are interested but they're small time now, again not an improvement. And Spurs reportedly but... By making his desire to leave public the power is now with the buyers. Huge mistake on his part. That said £20m would be too good to be true.
  14. From the Mirror: I can see some truth in that because he really made a silly decision to make his desire to leave public. He effectively gave power to the buying clubs. I'd be extremely happy with that deal should it come to pass.
  15. I'm not sure of the exact figures but I think he's paid the standard for a forward of his quality so the club could keep him. Our wages are at that level for all our players, his are just disproportionate for the average wage bill there - or they wouldn't have held onto him for so long.
  16. Oh Barca fans are the biggest bunch of twats going. Just like I said earlier, we only have to see them in the CL and even then its by chance.
  17. 2005 match was probably my favourite Chelsea match ever. Incredible game.

    Neymar > Sanchez
  19. AVB looking more attainable: http://www.weaintgotnohistory.com/2011/5/24/2187262/andre-villas-boas-has
  20. Barca, lesser of two evils. We only have to tolerate their sh*t sporadically, United we have to look at all the time.
  21. He's labelled the new Drogba. He's 18 I believe and 6 foot 4 and built like an absolute tank. From what I've seen of him he's actually pretty fast and can just knock defenders clean out of his way. He's an admitted Chelsea fan and has a hard on for Drogs so :P
  22. We're currently 2nd favourites behind City to get him. I'm trying to imagine how our heavily linked signings will actually work out in a functional 11 with reasonable rotation. We're reportedly making 5 new signings this summer. Using that optimistic assumption I'll presume one is a backup keeper. The others we're heavily linked with are van der Wiel, Aguero and Neymar. Presumably the 4th will be a creative midfielder in the mould of Modric or Sneijder. So: ------------- Cech ------------- VDW - Alex - Terry - Cole ----- Sneijder - Essien ----- Neymar - Aguero - Zhirkov ------------ Torres ----------- I think that could work marvellously with Aguero in a Rooney/Messi type role (he makes incredibly creative passes) which also frees him to drift around as he likes. The obvious weak(est) link in attack is the left wing with Zhirkov arguably not being in the same tier as the other 3. We could try PVA up there or there could be a secret left wing signing nobody is aware of. With Luiz, Ivan et al not featured the depth in defence especially is almost too much. Though huge advantage as we could potentially field a Mourinho-esque defence or go all out attack depending on the situation. We'd have several different players for mid field to select in Ramires, Lampard, Essien, Mikel (if he stays) and Josh which again could change depending on whether we're going in guns blazing or playing safe. Just trying to imagine what could potentially happen according to the rumour mill anyway. Exciting times ahead.
  23. Jesus he was so smashed that he looked like he was going to break down into a blubbering mess and start sobbing over Carlo's sacking. It reminded me of being the designated driver with that overly emotional drunk mate reminiscing some sentimental event. Say what you will about Ferguson, but he does entertain.
