I'd like him to stay, he deserves another season with hopefully Zola as his assistant manager.

As Bjd says he needs to learn from his mistakes and not be as predictable, have a plan b and learn what team he wants to play from the start of the season.

He won us the double last season, got us into the title race again from 5th place, even though you could blame some of it on him that we didnt get out of that blip faster.. but still sacking him now would make us look stupid.

Im sure we will win some silverware next season and im sure we will see some quality players coming in this summer

I like Carlo and I want him to stay - his achievements last season should allow him another crack, also i think getting rid of him would make us a laughing stock and put us in a vicious circle that i think we would struggle to remove ourselves from.

He shouldn't be absolved of any criticism though - he needs to set the team out to start matches quicker and to be more proactive when things are not going to plan.

Id also like him to be afforded the luxury of an assistant, ideally one of his choosing , but at the very least one with some experience.

Overall i hope this poll will be more stay than go - but i fear it will all be in vain as i think he is toast.

I'm still not sure really.

Arguments for him to stay include:

- He's won the double

- He helped turn this sh*t season around and get 2nd (assuming we don't lose our last 2 matches)

- He's a gentleman and doesn't bring all the drama of someone like Mourinho

- He knows the players

- If we sack him it will just be another case of someone needing instant success to keep their job, so lack of youth development in the first team and probably sticking with the same old players again

Arguments for him to go:

- We had our worst run of form for a very long time this season, and it took a long time for him to fix it

- His laid back approach seems to possibly be affected the players, which could be why they rarely look up for a game straight from the kickoff

- He is quite a yes-man. Meaning he wont got to Roman and say "I need 5 new players if you want to win anything next year". He will just carry on with the same squad and do as he's told.

- His substitutions. Whilst not always crap, he does have a tendancy to just to like-for-like (E.g. Ferreira for Bosingwa many times) which doesn't exactly help change a game. Also strange ones in big games, eg: the Man Utd away game in the CL when we needed a goal.

- Doesn't seem to know how to play with these players. 4-4-2, 4-3-3, 4-5-1. We've tried them all but he still doesn't seem to know what works best with the squad of players he has. Although we've gone back to 4-3-3 recently.

- Tends not to have a plan B. By which I mean something that can drastically change the game when we need it, not just bringing on Kalou for Torres.

- Possible lack of motivational skills. See: Argument 2.

The question remains though - if he does go - is who the hell would want to come in. And secondly, would they be given the time, the budget, etc... to build a team with new players and properly integrate the youngsters like McEachran and Bertrand and Sturridge and Kakuta into the team. Or would they be told "Win something or you're fired".

I wouldn't have a problem with a couple of years of no silverware if it meant a total rebuilding of the squad and preparing it for many years of success. Like Man Utd do all the time. But that requires the owner to stick with a manager over a good number of years, not just 1 or 2. And if that were to happen, part of me thinks we might be better off with a younger, more enthusiastic manager.

But anyway, time will tell.

To make this poll valid I really think there should be a "depends" option included.

I would be in the "depends" camp.

If we can get someone in who I believe is a better manager then obviously it wouldn't bother me to see Carlo go. Better managers in my humble opinion are - Hiddink, Ferguson, 'arry (yes, Mr Rednapp) and of course, Jose. For purely romantic purposes I have always secretly hankered for the return of Ruud and "Sexy" football. he would be coming home.

On the other hand, if we were in the hunt for a Rijkaard, Benitez or Deschamps then I would rather we kept with Ancelotti as I believe he is better than them.

Simple really.

Stay for sure, one more shot, see if he has learned from last time!

He needs to get angry more often and scare the players a bit.

Stay. I like him and I believe with the right coaching staff (craaaaaazy suggestion but perhaps he could pick his own?!) and some confidence installed by the club we'll be a better team for it next year. We need a manager who will give youth a chance - if we keep getting rid when we don't win a trophy - no manager will risk not playing the experienced player for fear of their job!!

No dont get him angry, I like classy managers. All he needs is his own core of players in the squad.

I'm not sure who said all this (not that I necessarily disagree with it). ^

Did someone's post get merged with mine?

Doesn't matter what we think. If Gus comes then this time next year Carlo will be but a distant memory. For me we need a major clear out, and that needs to start at the top. Carlo has a special place in our hearts, and winning the double can never be taken from him. I'm worried we will only attract money graders and end up like real Madrid.

He deserves another season to be honest, it would be silly for us to get rid of him so fast , i know 2nd place isnt anything but this season could of turned out alot worse and yeh we did lose but we've done well this season to come back from such a bad form earlier this season , Alot of the fans and critics seem to forget what he did last year, i for one dont , so i think its only fair to give him another chance , he's made some great signings for chelsea and i trust him to make even better ones which is why im confident chelsea will finish with atleast 1 trophy next season if we just keep the manager, hes won champions league twice aswell so i think if we give him a chance he will win it for us

It's clear to me now that Loz did more than we ever gave him credit for. Within a day of him leaving our title challenge is over and posts are collapsing into each other.

not publicly, in the changing room, the players don't seem to fear him at all

So what did you actually say?

I like him, but have never really rated him as a manager, especially before he joined us. He did very well last year, but the sings were there, & when we've needed some inspiration this year he has come up short.

He should go, and I've given my reasons in many threads over the last year and a half.

Despite our league position, we've had a piss-poor season, some of the performances reminding me of the days when we were in the old 2nd Division. We're in 2nd spot in the league, not because we're good, but because the rest are so sh*te. Under Ancelotti this season we've managed to lose to Man.City, Liverpool, Birmingham, Arsenal, Wolves and Man.Utd away, plus Sunderland and Liverpool at home.

Chelsea have lost more league games (8) this season under Ancelotti than they have since 2002/03 under Ranieri (9)

We also got knocked out of the League Cup at the first hurdle, at home to Newcastle, and lost to Everton in the 4th Rd of the FA Cup. We managed to get beaten at Marseille in the CL Group stage, were embarrassed by Copenhagen at the Bridge, and then lost home and away to Man.Utd.

For all the talk about Ancelotti having so much success and experience in the Champions League, we've seen precious little proof of it since he came to Chelsea. Last season we were knocked out, losing home and away to Inter in the 1st Knockout Round, this season we made it to the 2nd Knockout Round. Not f*ckin' good enough!

Hard to argue with that, although I still think he should be given one more shot with Zola as number 2.

If he is still not delivering by christmas send him packing.

Let him at least see the last year of his contract out, with Zola as his assistant, spend wisely on the area's we need new blood in, ie, RB and a couple of wingers to give Torres the supply he needs...if he fails then bye-bye....

I too voted for Carlo staying.

My only doubt would be if were really did have a chance of bringing back Guus as Manager, not Director of football. If the MANAGER is good enough to manage, we will not need a Director of football.

Voted for him to stay. Would love for him to have Zola as his assistant. I think that would work well.
