Can't say I'm really looking forward to it. I'd like to believe we'lll turn it on for such a big game, but recent performances are hard to ignore. We really need to start with 2 up front though. Playing with just 1 striker, especially if it's Anelka, means we just get outnumbered up there and keep losing it. I'd go for something like: ----------------------------Cech---------------------------- Bosingwa-------Terry-------Ivanovic-----------Cole ----------------------------Mikel---------------------------- -------------------Essien------Lampard----------------- --------------------------Malouda------------------------- -------------Drogba------------------Anelka------------

Why is Kalou a Chelsea player?
He's alright as a squad player when we're missing players and need someone with a bit of pace late on. But a first team player, he is not. Far too inconsistent and erratic. And it's not as if he's not had several years to improve, he's been here quite a while.

football positions
I'm a striker. I haven't played for about 4 years though. I moved up to adult football from junior at 18 and played 1 full season. Was the top scorer, although I only got 12, so not bucket loads or anything. I tend to be a scorer or great goals rather than a great goal scorer, often scoring from ridiculous angles or distances. Really would like to be playing again, but I've got so unfit I can barely run up the stairs without needing a drink and a sit down.

Big Sam gone at Blackburn
Could say I cared, but I'd be lying.

New striker in January?
We've already got 1 striker who is a target man and 1 who drops back into the midfield. What we really need is the pacey one who stays on the defenders and breaks through the offside trap and actually runs at players and commits them. Like an Owen in his hayday. Not sure who that would be at the moment though...Tevez? Nah..he's a dick. But someone like that.

Tottenham v Chelsea (PL) 12/12/2010 KO 16:00 GMT
The contrast in styles between the 2 sides yesterday was blindingly obvious and highlighted why we're not doing very well. One side got the ball they slowly passed it around the back, moving up to the middle. Then out to the wing where the wingers slowly approached the box, before cutting inside where they had 1 striker surrounded by about 4 opposition players. They passed and passed, looking for a killer ball, and ended up losing it. One side got the ball and immediately put the other under pressure by actually sprinting forward with it down the wings, running at defenders and commiting them, bursting into space and getting crosses in from the byline. No clues as to which was which.

Got to feel sorry for Cudicini. Number 2 here for ages, so he leaves to try and get first team football, and then is made number 2 at a worse club instead. Hopefully he'll get himself some football soon, probably back in Italy.

Josh has done enough to warrant a premier league start, especially since we're missing Lampard. I will be very disappointed if he's not given a start soon. Although I suppose Spurs, Man utd, Arsenal may not be the best games to through him into, but you never know, he might take them in stride and play well like he has been up till now.

Well can't say I'm surprised really, we never looked like even scoring, let alone winning. Ferreira was a joke against Bale, constantly being out paced and just generally out played. Defensively we were appaling, even worse than the Sunderland game. I know Terry is only just back from a injury, but I was really expecting better from him. His mistake for Crouch's 2nd goal was sunday league quality, it really was. And Kalou can just f**k off, I've had enough. Anelka and Drogba were awful as well, never tested Spurs in the whole game. I think I'm right in saying we only had 1 or 2 shots on target in the 90 minutes, both of which were rubbish. Honestly, I cannot see where things are going to turn around. And Man Utd next is going to be embarrasing.

Terry & Lampard
I don't think many people would disagree that their absence has been a major part of why we've been struggling recently, but my question is this: They are both in their 30s now and probably haven't got that many seasons left in them...so what on earth are we going to do when they retire? McEachran is the only player coming through at the moment who has a realistic chance of making it, but he's not really the box to box type general that Lampard is, and he certainly won't chip in with 20+ goals a season. I'm struggling to see who we could bring through or who we could buy who could possibly replace them. I know it's a few years off, and by then maybe some other decent players will have come through who we could look at bringing in, but it worries me that those 2 players seem to be so irreplaceable at the moment.

Newcastle v Chelsea (PL) - 28/11/2010 - KO 13:30 GMT
Well..I suppose at least we didn't lose again, but still very poor, especially at the back. And at the front they seem to be trying to walk it in every time, pass and pass and pass and pass and lose it, rather than actually having some shots or trying a killer ball.

I'd take Drogba off and bring on Sturridge. He's done very little today, apart from sulk.

So, taking bets on Newcastle to score within 60 seconds of the second half starting..

Can see us losing again tomorrow to be honest. We're just not at the races at the moment and barely scraped past Zilina even when the first team players came on. Reckon we'll probably lose 0-1.
