  1. Just a thought... if we waited until after Spurs play United, Modric could have an impact on 3 league games against United as opposed to two, maybe a happy coincidence of playing the slow game in the transfer window?
  2. Top of the united bill is 180000 , he's getting 230000 or so i have read. Is his desire to play in England so great that he'd reduce his wage by 2.5 million a year? I honestly wouldn't say so, of course if Fergie abandons his "no man is bigger than the team" mantra and meets him halfway it could be a different story
  3. I'll never forgive him for abandoning the Irish squad in Saipan, he's an absolute headcase...
  4. Hey Andre Villas-Boas isn't a dealer, he's a f**king football manager...
  5. I think after splurging in January if we can't get Modric, we'll stay quiet. We might do some last minute stuff but I think we're not going to get that right winger, or attacking central midfielder with flair that we all want unfortunately.
  6. I agree it would be a stupid thing to do, unfortunately it wouldn't be the first time, and more importantly Modric is also one of Tottenham's only creative players so if i were Redknapp it would certainly be more tempting that a deal including Kalou who often can't hit a barn door, or Anelka who disappoints too often.
  7. As much as I wish we got him, he's used to playing in less physical leagues and more importantly the pace in the Italian league is much slower... He could easily have troubles adapting and as skillful as he is that doesn't mean he'll make it... I mean we all know how much of a gamble it is buying from the Italians, Schevchenko anyone?
  8. Man City Man United Chelsea Liverpool Wigan QPR Swansea
  9. Great to hear he's been called up but we've got a very weak midfield at the best of times and we're riddled with injuries at the moment. He's obviously not well rated by Trapattoni the likes of Walters, Wilson , James McCarthy, Seamus Coleman, Keith Fahey and Damien Delaney needed to get injured before he was considered for a call-up. Still Andy Reid was snubbed by the man for little to know reason, so he's not perfect. Hope the young lad gets on and plays well
  10. http://www.fanatix.com/news/chelsea-in-sensational-swap-deal-to-snatch-man-uniteds-35m-target-480/ Dodgy source claiming we're going to get him in a deal which involves a swap with Anelka.
  11. 35 million for Hazard, can play rw and attacking midfielder, killing two birds with one stone if these boyos aren't forthcoming seems like a good plan B to me!
  12. Fake Ron Gourlay's twitter saying we're signing Ribery and Kroos... can't see this move happening in a million years tbf.
  13. Suspect this Lad will be a hard worker, the fact that he's always had a desire to play for Chelsea definitely puts him in my good books. We don't need Kalou or Anelka now, sell them to free up some money and 2 places in the squad and look to sign the likes of Modric, Moutinho or Hazard and I'd be very happy with this transfer window. You couldn't hope for a better mentor than Didier Drogba and he's young enough to not have the pressure to perform while his still developing his skills that an older striker would. I won't properly judge him one way or the other until 2013 anyway
  14. Off Romelu Lukaku's official Twitter account "@Romelulukaku is going next to london for the medical tests... More news next week ;)" I'd say it's a 99pct certainty now
  15. If this keeps up the City fans will just get more cocky, snider and snider by the day... I'll get my coat
  16. One of the reason's he can't get a work permit is not being able to get onto the national team's defense for 70 pct of their games... Surely the answer is to crock Vidic, I mean it's not like we really need an excuse like.
  17. If there's any truth in the Sneijder rumours I'd like us to snap up Modric asap, we don't want Rednose pilfering spuds best player yet again surely ! Bidding war could lead to paying way over the odds, or to them just accepting UTD bid to spurn us and leaving us fairly high and dry in the creative midfield department.
  18. Point taken and I'll cautiously agree with those sentiments, still though I wouldn't be too surprised if we didn't pull anything crazy and sold the likes of Kalou, Malouda or Bosingwa before our next buys. My point is more about having a bit more cop on with our attitude in market dealings, spending 75 mil in January is all well and good if you sell under performers to bridge some of the gap.
  19. I think that by selling Zhirkov to fund this purchase that it's clear enough that AVB's funds are quite limited in this transfer window, expecting to see a purchase of new blood after each sale of deadwood. We spent mad money in January and it's only reasonable that we won't overextend ourselves for quite some time. Why we're not linked to attacking midfielders (from clubs that don't hate our f'ing guts) and right wingers, I don't understand. Either way i'm not worried, there's serious goals in this team.
  20. Ceck Bosingwa Ivanovic Terry Cole Mikel Ramires Malouda Lampard Torres Drogba Benayoun to be introduced if Torres needs help being brought into the game, if that doesn't work then Anelka on for Torres. I'm woeful at team selections, best I leave it to the Pros!
  21. We ought to sign Jesus Christ, he looks great on crosses, is due a comeback and ought to annoy the y*ds!
  22. The GAA was only founded in 1884 and lost a good deal of power after siding with Charles Stewart Parnell after his extra-marital affair was exposed, so it didn't really take hold even in Ireland again for about a decade after that. The GAA as you've pointed out was very insular in those days and missed a trick by not being on the ball organizing games for all the Irish immigrants who left our shores , so young people of an Irish heritage couldn't play Gaelic games, sure in the 80s the majority of our team were Grandfathered in, always makes me laugh when I hear Mark Lawrenson or John Aldridge described as Irish internationals with their English accent, especially Lawrenson who has a tic where he corrects himself for referring to the English team as "we" instead of "they". From my experience most young people laugh at the idea of "dem foreign games" from "dem over the water" being banned and support all the teams, I certainly do anyway. I find League of Ireland supporters far worse about someone supporting English teams than the GAA crowd, in the last few years i've seen Man United and Munster strips at GAA games anyway.
  23. God bless Vincent, my brother had childhood Leukemia a few years ago, and I can only imagine the hell you're going through! Best of luck and you'll be cheering on Chelsea to a European Cup some day soon!
