Following our nearest and dearest rivals
It's such a shame our club has been so poorly run for the past few years, will take a bit of rebuilding to have any chance against these lads. Look like we did in 2004-2005 is spot on. Surely FFP will be a stumbling block for them though?

Norwich outclassing Stoke, already up by 1.

Luka Modric
If I'm being very honest, if I were Luka Modric, I wouldn't go if they could get Adebayor and Diarra , they are 2 very talented players that fill the gaps they have in their squad of holding midfielder and striker. Spurs, have a young team maturing now, we have an old team that's just being injected with a bit of youth now so it'll be a year or two before we face the benefits. I honestly think spurs are more likely than Liverpool or Arsenal to challenge us at the top of the table of any of the London sides.

Alex to Arsenal?!?
He's 29, if we get paid over the odds and get a young talented replacement with bags of potential we could sell him... oh wait we've got Luiz, and maybe Rajkovic

Name your wide man
To be honest, it surprised me after World Cup 2010 that we didn't go hell for leather in for a few German lads, if we get Mata we'll have gotten one Spanish regular and 2 up and coming Spanish talents, but besides defensively it was the Germans who really impressed me. In the long term, hmm, I think for the long term stability of the league, Ourselves and the top 4 or so other teams should fund football academies to get young talent playing the right way from an early age. Putting skill before physicality from an early age should be at a premium. Far easier to teach a 20 year old like Josh to eat a few bags of Walkers to bulk up, Gary Lineker could set him up, far harder to teach players who rely on on physicality and strength good technique in their late teens and 20s. Combing our efforts, and having a draft system of U16 talent, imo would drastically improve the youth academies for the entire league. You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one.... Someday you will join me, or I'm talking sh*te because I'm hungover from my brothers 18th

5-0 sans Modric... maybe Levy will be convinced they don't need him! Or seeing the quality currently in Tottenham side he'll work even harder to keep him. Anyway Hearts manager must be on the edge now, their chap is as bad as Roman with the chopping and changing of background staff

Luka Modric
For some reason I can't edit my posts on Google Chrome, no problem on firefox... As a result I've mentioned racism at the Bridge in a Josh McEachran thread, and made a basic maths error... Dear, dear.

Juan Mata at Chelsea
Well yes the Spiderman's just got that extra pizazz in his play, his famed "Spidey-vision" ensures he picks the right pass, and when plays at DM he always has the opposing forwards legs up in knots. He's a must buy if we're going to beat the New York Giants in the World Series in Qatar in 2022.

Cech Out
Another Factor is Eva Carneiro, if she were in a short Skirt JT and Rooney would be very very distracted... AVB has to decide whether neutralizing both squads best players is a tactic to attempt

Cech Out
Worst case scenario for Man United game, Hilario has a bad game, De Gear improves and it's a goal filled thriller.

Chelsea vs West Brom (PL) 20/08/11 KO 1730 BST
Cech is out for 4 week with medial ligament damage... so Hilario or Turnbull for the next 3 fixtures then... bollocks.

Open letter to Andre Villas-Boas (to be edited)
Easily the best looking manager in Europe... get the scouts to find the low down on who on the down low and tempt them over. Seriously though invest in creative players and wide players, and buy a few big names when the market is right. That's all we can ask for.

Luka Modric
Ere's what Wheelah Dealah, 'Arry has has to say, taken off footbal365,com's live transfer blog, no idea of the source of the quotes, "I don't know where it's at and Daniel has said all along that he is not going to sell Luka so that is probably it as far as I know. "There is no sign of him going. If he doesn't go it's an area we need to strengthen and we have one or two irons in the fire. "We are trying [to get players in]. We have some names and we are trying to get one or two in. We need to do a little bit of business."

Juan Mata at Chelsea
Look we're bound to get someone good by September, so it juan mata either way...

Luka Modric
We've been looking at talented youngsters throughout the transfer window, freeing up 2 squad places can be a great deal for us if we make the right choices. Basically we're selling 2 good pros for a potentially world class player, and creating the necessity to get more players. In my opinion this can only be a good thing, I rate Yossi very highly but the other teams all know his game, Kalou is surplus to requirements here he's done his best and he deserves the chance of playing first team football.

So we might still see Pjanic on the Streets of London?

Stoke City v Chelsea (PL) 14/08/11 KO 13:30 BST
I agree wholeheartedly, a great creative midfielder and a winger are all we are missing from having a very competitive side at an international level... but we've not made the signings in those positions and a lot of us are getting edgy, the problem is that in those key positions we have to go from sub-par to world class to make that jump. Creatively our central midfield is really uncreative, of our direct competition, Arsenal, Barca and Madrid have a lot more vision here, as a defensive unit we're simply sublime but we lack the ability to use width as a weapon whatsoever presently. Malouda and Kalou aren't wingers, we need proper wingers if we're going to create enough space for our unparalleled strike-force to dominate

http://www.footballtransfertavern.com/2011/08/premiership/villas-boas-breathtaking-38m-spanish-raid-would-define-their-season Di Maria and Pepe on their way, can't see this one happening, leaving the 2nd best team in the world for the 5th or 6th when you're regularly making the starting line-up. There's a distinct smell of Bull of this one Also, if someone would be so kind as to rate the different sources of transfer rumours as to their accuracy, ie. which sites are good, which are bad, same for the papers. As a non-English national it's all a bit Greek to me. The only one i can say for definite isn't in the know is goal.com!

Man City sponsorship deal to be investigated
Yep, if this is allowed surely GAZPROM can just inject all of Roman's money into the team with no bother at all to him. I can see it now, a half empty 120000 seater stadium, prawn sandwiches as far as the eye can see, and Malouda still making the first team. Isn't that the dream?

Non. Well if Udinese can knock them out he won't leave a club that's in the CL for one that isn't surely.

Well they each have potential in their own right, but for a player looking for a challenge in one of the best teams in the world, you've got to admit being surrounded by players whose game you understand, who you've played with, and whose first language you speak must be ideal.

Ten minutes of Aquero
Even if we get no big names this transfer window the more world class names in the League the more potentially world class players who will want to come to play in the Premier League. The higher the quality of opposition , the more players we'll have to buy to stay competitive. If Man UTD, City etc. were all useless AVB wouldn't see the need to purchase anyone, we'd become complacent. The only things preventing English dominance of the World Game are 1) Two-faced Uefa making a stand against our sugar daddies, while ignoring the huge inequalities in television rights in Spain, and 2) The tax hike on the ultra rich which make it harder to attract players to come here (will especially be an issue with the PP))
-
Kevin De Bruyne
Well the fact he would be staying in Genk for a year as part of any deal puts me off it to tell you the truth, we desperately need players in a couple of key positions for the next campaign to remain competitive. If we're only making one signing then for the squad we'll either be short of the creativity we need, or short on width, decide for yourself which will be more frustrating watching a winger stretch the opposition , create space for chances and not having the vision from midfield for the right ball to get played, or technically weaker players containing our wide men making each opportunity harder for the creative player to make, and for the strikers to finish due to tighter marking.

We've bought 2 belgians, and have another on the way most likely... I think we wouldn't have gone down this route if we weren't after the most talented Belgian footballer out there right now, I could of course be wrong.
