Hi everyone,

I would like to talk about this guy, Romelu Lukaku, sixteen years of age and top scorer in the belgium league, he plays for Anderlecht.

This season he scored 15 goals in 28 games. He is probably the hotest young prospect in the continent.

He amazed me at his age and his game, very strong, pace, good in the air, this guy would be ahead of any signings to me for Chelsea. We are talking about a guy of 16 years. The good thing is that he revealed in interviews that his idol is Didier Drogba, so maybe because of that, he would like to come. Probably not this year but for the next one, without a shadow of doubt he is gonna be the new drogba.

As I said, he is good in the air, he is very quick, very strong in the challenge, can shoot with left and right foot, still very young but he is unbelievable good for his age.

The days of Didier would be soon rather than later over, so here we have the perfect replacement for him in Lukaku, and because he is 16 no rush bringing him here, he can stay for another year or two there.

For those sceptical about a boy from the belgium league, let me tell you that he played the Europa League this season and he destroyed Athletic Bilbao.

If his idol as he said is Drogba that means he watched a lot of Chelsea games and maybe that factor could be decisive in the future to bring him here. hopefully he will.

I think we all know about this guy...or at least have heard good things about him.

It would be worth trying to buy him given the age of Drogba and Anelka. Depends how much he would be though.

I would like to see Lukaku in Chelsea, but his father told, that he will stay in Anderlecht till 18 years old.

He might be an athlete but is he going to turn out to be a top top footballer as well. Heskey is strong, you can go through all the lower league teams and find real strong centre forwards. I think he needs to prove himself a bit more as a footballer before we place too many hopes on him.

He is 16, did you see that?, can you tell me how many players scored and play games at a professional level with 16 years of age?

15 goals from a guy of sixteen years of age is a lot. LOOk more than anelka this season.

We may be able to get him cheaper if we loan him back to Anderlecht for another season or two...would appease his dad too....

Just a thought. Obviously signing him wouldn't be the excellent striker we need next season, because it would be nearly impossible for a 16 year old to have that much instant impact at a top club in the EPL, so we'd probably still need to buy another striker....but he does seem like he has a huge future.

We should buy a first option agreement on the kid. That way when he's ready to leave if he's still good enough we have a great chance of getting him and no one can sneakily bid for him without us knowing

The mail was reporting our interest last year...

So now we know what the D stands for

if he`s 16 then im the dalai lama

Big hitter the lama, long! You will receive no tip, but on your death bed, you will receive total conciousness

Visited Chelsea on a school trip, he's 17 now. He ended his season with 20 goals & 6 assists.

Hello your holiness! Back in march when you posted that message, he was 16. He just turned 17 last week.

He want's to be at Chelsea.. Pretty sure it will happen when he is 18. Perfect timing aswell as Drogba might be on his final few seasons by that time!

Bulgaria just played a friendly with Belguim and Lukaku started as a lone centre-forward. Granted, our defense is sh*t, but the hype is well-deserved. I can understand where the comparisons with Drogba come from - he has immense strength and uses his body very well, has a very good shot, his movement is excellent and he has decent pace. His positional sense is off and he still has a lot to learn, but the raw talent is there.

I don't know what our plans for transfers are and I realize it would be silly to look to replace Drogba with an identical player, but I am officially a fan. The boy has a lot of potential.

Goal.com seem to think it's a realistic proposition, along with Hamsik. Not that goal.com is gospel truth... Looks like they're saying the same things as people have already said on the forum. Maybe they're watching!

Have to say I'd be more han happy for them to come to the club. We would definitely have to get rid of some of our strikers though.

If he's as good as the glowing reports I hear, I say we sign him now and leave him in Belgium for the next year..

Yes thats better option..he is very young...in Belgium he would at least get first team football that would help him improve....

Buy him and Loan him...then bring him in here after 1-2 seasons.

In Anderlecht he would probably get European football as well.

Ohh..that would be added bonus with the package then :D

They won their league, so they will at least get an attempt to qualify for the Champions League group stages. Last season he scored four goals in Europa League.

Lukaku has re-signed a new contract with Anderlecht until 2015

Shame as I was hoping we would sign him on a pre-contract this Summer and then loan him back to Anderlecht for 1 season until he is 18. The perfect replacement for Drogba.

Sad we missed out on him now, whilst he still could have been bought at a very reasonable price !

Contracts don't mean much these days. This new contract just means that if we want to sign him, we would have to pay them more money.
