Yes, I watched it live on tv. I expected Heynckes to put out a weakened side but it wasn't the case. He left out Alaba, Luis Gustavo and Badstuber so he was obviously playing the eleven he has in mind for the CL final. Dortmund away with about 63,000 BVB fans and 20,000 of ours is an amazing atmosphere ! 90 minutes of noise and colour. I've been there many times and the sight of their end when the teams come out is incredible. This is me in the Bayern end last season (if it loads up properly) :

Tbh I prefer to spend time on my favourite general football forum than on generic Bayern forums. There are a couple of Bayern forums in English too but these are inhabited to about 99% by bandwagon jumping, irritating arseholes who would have difficulty finding Munich, or for that matter Germany, on a map. The vast majority have never seen us play and are not what I would call supporters. I never use these sites as I have nothing to say to those who do. There are a couple of decent German language Bayern forums but as someone pointed out earlier in this thread on specific club sites there isn't always the same level of banter because everyone is often in agreement.

The Oktoberfest and the spring Frühlingsfest (smaller and better) are on the Theresienwiese just one stop on the underground from the central station. The TW is also used for trade fairs but is absolutely huge and would hold tens of thousands if available for a public viewing of the game.

I've seen Rangers in Munich too, a 0-0 in 1989 after we'd won 3-1 in Glasgow. Back in the 80's Bayern had a now sadly defunct supporters club called Südkurve 73, the club boss Jackie was a massive Rangers fan and his office above the club bar was full of Bayern and Rangers memorabilia.Jackie sadly died many years ago but he was a great guy and I have good memories of him, he was Bayern through and through but also loved British football and British fans.

When my Irish aquaintances stop calling 17th March "Paddy's day" I'll stop calling Irish pubs "Paddy pubs". I mean no offence by the phrase but I do not do pc. On another forum recently I was called a Whippet fancier (I'm a Yorkshireman), a good Welsh mate of mine is always called a sheep shagger, he takes it in the way it is meant as do I. I can't stand the modern trait of getting offended by absolutely f##king everything.

Well you are handily placed not only for the airport and the ground (at Fröttmaning), but also if you look on a map about 5 miles to the south of you you have Schwabing, the best area in Munich for bars, pubs etc. Forget the city centre, Schwabing is where the best nightlife is, to the right of it is the Englischer Garten, the biggest park in europe I believe, designed by an Englishman hence the name. It has several great biergardens including the Chinese tower, not to mention it being the place where many of Munich's good looking girls go to sun their buns on the riverbank. Off duty Bayern players such as Schweinsteiger are also seen here having kick abouts with their mates from time to time. Just to the right of the Englischer Garten is my old residence Oberföhring. For historical interest Schleißheim has a very good aircraft museum : http://www.deutsches-museum.de/en/flugwerft/information and a palace/castle http://en.wikipedia....eissheim_Palace Below Schleißheim to the south west is Hasenbergl which is a dump and to be avoided like the plague. I'm not really familiar with Schleißheim myself but as far as I know it is a nice area and will have a few good bars, biergardens and restaurants too. Bavarian biergardens are legendary and great places to drink in spring and summer, Munich beer is fantastic as well which helps. All the best.....

A - Slightly before my time as a Bayern fan ! My first live Bayern game was in August '83 at home to Düsseldorf. My first european game, away to Spurs a few months later. The young Kalle Rummenigge was so nervous before the St.Etienne game that the physio gave him a double cognac before the match ! B - I don't think I'm in the squad mate ! Seriously ever since it was decided that the final is in Munich we have been desperate to win this one, we don't want to fail having got this far !

Slightly off topic but I've just been reading about season ticket prices in the UK. I couldn't afford to go much if I still lived over there, God knows how you lot put up with the prices ! It's ridiculous that my English club (Sheffield United) charge more than the likes of Bayern, quite a bit more in fact. If clubs over here started charging what you lads had to pay the fans would be out on the streets protesting !

Yes. Twenty odd years ago there were quite a lot of 'em in Munich, the most popular being Günther Murphy's and the Shamrock, both in Schwabing. A lot closed down though as there were far too many for the demand.

I haven't been to a paddy bar in Munich since the heady days of Günther Murphy's in the early 90's.

I've been visiting Munich for almost 30 years, and lived in and around it for over 10 of them before moving up north, football colours have been banned in the HBH since about 1987 at the latest. It kicked off in there a few times in the 80's and glass litre pots flying about is not pleasant ! It's a tourist bierkeller and most of the visitors are drunk, (including German out of towners), therefore the last thing the owners want is gangs of drunken football fans in, whoever they support. Hence the ban, there are loads of bars/pubs/bierkellers in Munich where colours are no problem.

I'm a nice guy but I'm not that nice ! Seriously after the disappointment of losing to Internazionale two years ago I'm desperate for us to win this one. We've won four out of eight up to now but only one of our last five, so we know all about being disappointed too. We are absolutely determined to win this one but we know it will be a tough game against a good team and could go either way.

Robben and Ribery had a bit of a ding dong and before that there was press talk about Robben's ego. But tbf it was all blown out of proportion, team spirit is good in the squad but it's Bayern, so the press need to find something negative to write about even if it means inventing most of it. The defence will probably be : Lahm - Boateng - Timoschchuk - Rafinha (or Contento).
