brew888 reacted to Coxy15 in Ruben Loftus-Cheekis 'being honest' another way of saying 'agreeing with me'? slagging off a young player for laziness in the first pre-season friendly, played half-way around the world and after only 1 week's training seems hasty at best, plain ignorant at worst. the lad is young as is therefore not used to the demands of first team football, or the demands of a full pre-season training schedule. give the boy a chance. against liverpool last season he earned rave reviews from everyone as his performance was very good. young players have off-games, and struggle with the pace of first-team football to begin with. its not a big deal.
I do get the sense that you are being overly-critical on purpose, perhaps to demonstrate your superior football knowledge to others on this forum. I don't think you are likely to get the adulation you are seeking though. leave the analysis until later in the season, or better still, leave it to the professionals

brew888 reacted to shedpensioner in Torres - The "Groundhog Day" ThreadHe was not awful against Newcastle, he had probably 2/3 half chances, you cannot blame a striker when the rest of the team fail.

brew888 reacted to startedwithglenn in Random RumoursI would be strongly against selling Moses, not that I believe we would. The links just smack of lazy and unfounded journalism to me.
He's young and still learning. I don't think people realise what a step up it is going from a Wigan to a Chelsea.
He had a good first season imo, doubt he's on big wages and he's not going to kick up a stink at being a rotational player. Also homegrown which is a huge plus on his side.
Let's not forget his season was disrupted by the ACON and he also became a father for the first time later in the season.
Every squad needs a few Moses type players spread around various positions. A squad of 25 top quality players wouldn't work, in fact it'd likely be a disaster.

brew888 reacted to Uno in Random RumoursI'd keep Ba over Torres. I would also like to keep Moses. I think he offers our team something different from Mazacar. He can and has come on and changed games for us so i dont know why people are keen to see him go.

brew888 reacted to tremberz90 in Torres - The "Groundhog Day" ThreadSpot on. I think RVP actually misses a lot of chances, yes he scores a lot but compared to the amount of chances he gets not that much. We seem to score with very few attempts, especially Torres, he very rarely gets more than a few decent chances a game.

brew888 reacted to Davey Baby in Torres - The "Groundhog Day" ThreadYour post is 100% correct.
You say you're now fully convinced Torres can't be "the man". Unfortunately I was fully convinced of that a long time ago, before we signed him in fact.
You'll get flak for this post but that's just the way it goes.
Some people are deluded where our Mr Torres is concerned.
Apparently, the problem is service. That's right, whereas before it was Malouda's fault, or Kalou's, or Danny's, now that they've been replaced by Oscar, Mata and Hazard, the fault still lies with his teammates not the man himself. Could it possibly be that Torres is the reason we can't create chances, even a teensy weensy bit? Of course not. What an outrageous suggestion.
It's all well and good praising Torres when he plays well, credit where it's due and all that, but when he plays poorly, there are those who can't bring themselves to say it (see above). They'll never admit to a bad game, they'll just say everyone else was bad instead.
A world-class striker is always a threat, no matter what the circumstances. More often that not, Torres is not a threat. Simple as.
