Following Our Nearest And Dearest Rivals 2025/26
Nice to wake up on a Sunday feeling relieved we avoided the VARsenal Smugageddon. Schadenfreude is sweet, and lasts a lot longer than the joy of winning. We’ll be dining on this for a long long time. The only team in London…….

Burnley v Chelsea (PL) Sat 31st Oct 2020 15:00 GMT
Not many teams play that well at Turf Moor. It was enjoyable to watch...which hasn’t been true for many games recently. Excellent team performance. Ziyech is going to be a hell of a player, and with Pulisic on the other wing! Havertz looking better and better. Werner, clearly a bit fatigued, but a class finish. In Chilly, we finally have a left back to rival Ashley. My man of the match is Silva. His calm presence, expert positioning and decision making, and pure quality on the ball sets the tone for the entire team.

Someone at the Guardian had some time on their hands. The 1970 FA Cup Final Replay - as it happened. Priceless. https://www.theguardian.com/football/live/2020/mar/21/chelsea-v-leeds-united-1970-fa-cup-final-replay-live?CMP=share_btn_link

Grimsby 84 video (posted by Stibbs 1961)
Cheers mate. Lucky find. Couldn’t believe it. I think we should all go to that Twitter posting and thank the GrimsbyTown lad for posting that....and encourage him to get the match highlights up as soon as possible. Crazy, brilliant day. Coach from Fulham Broadway, drinking all the way. Sunny, warm day. I remember the strong smell of fish getting off the coach in Cleethorpes. So many of us there as usual, but no sense of trouble..apart from one scuffle on the field... it was a party atmosphere. Memories fade...and details become blurry. I was behind the goal..but no idea if I was to the left or right. I remember the pen miss vaguely, but I couldn’t tell you how we scored....unlike the following game at Highbury. I do remember the crush and the sheer bloody ecstasy. Great times. The greatest. I count those seasons...83/84 and the ones before and after...as the best ever, for different reasons, and the memories I have are some of the best in my life. I moved abroad a few years after and follow the Blues (as religiously)from a distance. I get to go to a couple of games now and again with my lads, and we always go to the summer friendlies if Chels come to the East Coast. Big thanks to the lads who started this thread and continue to keep it alive. #COYB #carefree #this threadi

Good call mate. I hope the guy is serious about posting highlights of this game in May. I’ll probably shed a few tears. I was behind the goal, and crushed like everyone else. Getting close to 60 now, so I can’t remember exactly where I was. To the right of the goal maybe, or was it the left? Maybe the Grimsby fella has got clips of Pat’s dribble v Newcastle, and Flasher’s goal at Bolton the season before.

The mind-games, death threats and individual genius of Chelsea vs Barcelona in 2005

Champions League winning form from the Blues. San Siro here we come.

Cuadrado - Chelsea's #23
I love Willian. Maybe he's not scoring, but he's contributing massively. Not only does he work hard defensively, I see him as a player with skull and vision. Wouldn't mind seeing him next to Matic, with Cesc further up.

Chelsea vs Stoke City (PL) 04/04/2015 KO: 17:30 GMT
Oh, and regarding Tibo. Neck and neck with Cech in terms of brilliance I reckon - both capable of a wobble (see De Gea et al) - but Tibo's the long term investment.

Chelsea vs Stoke City (PL) 04/04/2015 KO: 17:30 GMT
I thought Drogba's action was totally calculated. It resulted in wasted time - the ref blew almost immediateLy after the goal kick - and made sure some of the Stoke players got wound up and consequently distracted. Nicely done in the name of professionalism and ensuring a result in my opinion. I, for one, appreciated it.

Top 10 Goals In Chelsea History
Dixon v Arsenal has to be my favorite.... the context elevates it. I also always loved this goal - simple, beautifully worked, and indicative of the great football we played that year: Dixon v Man City 1984. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QjxUbYPCH-c

Pat Nevin Articles
Pat...as anyone from the 80s would attest, one our most skillful and entertaining players ever. He's also an articulate, erudite, and interesting guy. While I'm here, what's the answer to his question?

The most impressive and the most pathetic away support at the Bridge
Didn't Millwall fill the North Stand in the FA Cup in 85? Night game. Seem to remember them brawling with the OB. Fearsome lot.

Remember that friendly at Barnet in 82 or 83? Stood next to Mike Fillery for some stage of that game - I think he might have been subbed at half time and came back out to watch the game. No chance of something like that happening these days.

If you could pick just one...
Claude Makalele. I love Kerry, Zola, Ossie etc, and they rank as my top 3 fave players of all time (with Wee Pat a close 4th), but I think we're missing the steel, world class positioning and defending, and the quick/smart distribution of Claude. He was a critical component of the title winning teams....and we have yet to replace him. The 4-2-3-1 formation requires a player like him, and Mikel is not quite good enough.
