It's an indication of the severe lack of managers when every top club is looking for a successful one and there aren't any to count on. Next season there will be an absolute mad rush to sign Xabi Alonso. And on TT going to utd, I'd absolutely hate it because it instantly upgrades their chances of CL qualification and winning it.

"Long term" is an appealing and romantic concept which most clubs aim for but usually abandon when things get difficult. These days managers last about 3 years if they manage to get moderate success during that period and in exceptional cases 5+ years if they succeed most of the time without major hiccups. I think TT would be lapped up by a top team when he's available. Conte although a very good manager is such an unstable presence that the one thing he could be counted on would be to throw his toys out at the first sign of trouble.

We would've been blessed if the spending cap was implemented earlier. It would've forced the owners to first settle themselves and also evaluate players thoroughly before signing. There is essentially no structure to this "restructuring".

Clearlake certainly went wild and signed who ? We would've understood had they gone after world class players at a premium but instead they signed a bunch of teenagers and average young players at inflated prices. Instead of thoughtfully building a team to compete for the title, they've made a hopeful punt by assembling a confusing array of players most of whom didn't actually show much quality even before they were signed.

That's what happens when you give a fat paycheck and long contracts to players who have achieved f**k all to deserve it.
