Chelsea Sign Austrian Wonderkid Prosenik

Premier League outfit Chelsea have secured the services of Austrian youngster Philipp Prosenik. The 16-year-old will leave his current club Rapid Vienna for the London side this summer.

Prosenik is considered to be one of the worlds most promising players of his age and the young striker had attracted the interest of several European giants.

Bayern Munich, Milan and Juventus were reportedly all closely monitoring the talented attacker's situation at Rapid Vienna too. The Austria under-17 is the son of former Austrian international Christian Prosenik.

Initially, Prosenik was part of the 1860 Munich youth academy. However, he eventually left the German outfit to return to his native country and play for Rapid Vienna.

The hot prospect made twelve appearances for Austria under-17 so far, scoring eight goals.

eventually, at some stage in the next few years, at least one or two players will start to make a real impression in the first team.

we can only hope that kakuta can get fit and start getting involved next year.

i honestly believe that kakuta would have got some game time under hiddink, hes never been afraid of throwing in young talent. i know hes not played di santo or stoch but kakuta is a class above them boys.

Kakuta's out for the season.

And if he's anywhere near as good as Prosinecki, I'm game! :)

Yeah, are you talking about the guy who plays his regular first team for the FA cup too?

Di Santo wasnt cheap either, and he hasnt really played one game of significance since his signing. I really do believe that the club are trying to get youngsters into the team, otherwise they won't be spending this much money on unproven players, and would rather buy one 30 million guy instead.

But at some point a manager really has to play them, and I can't see when that'll happen.

The new manager that comes in next season will be under a lot of pressure to win something in his first year. People who think he'll play youngsters with any frequency will be disappointed. If he doesn't win, he'll get sacked and we'll see the same thing happen the season after.

Next year many of the so called "wonderkids" will be lucky to even be loaned to a decent team. At the soonest, we'll see some players emerge the year after the next, which is itself not very likely.

Manienne and Di Santo are both capable of playing for the first team. I'd anticipate Di Santo getting lots more game time next year. Managers aren't stupid. If they have a player who can do better for them they will play them.

If your good enough you will get a game. Especially if the funds are drying up we will have to look more at the youth team.

Manciene is good enough, Kakuta looks a great young player. Not seen prosiniki or what ever his name is.

The fact that not many have come through our youth team recently does'nt bother me. Its only been the last 5 yrs or so that we have made a real effort with our youth policy, before that it was almost non-existant. You have to expect it to take 5-10yrs for us to start reeping any benefits from this.

We are just starting to see this with the youth team doing well recently in the cup and some pushing for first team football.

Long may it continue.
