Posted May 13, 200916 yr These teams are alreadu through to next seasons group stages : us, United, Liversh*te, Barca, Real, Inter, Porto, Kiev, AZ, Porto, CSKA and Rubin Kazan. Out of these teams what do you think would be the best away day? Personally I thought Cluj was a unique experience, some unheard of city in Transylvania so I would like to go to either Moscow again or Kazan. Having looked at Kazan the city (very bored) it looks like it would be a top experience, probably pricey though! Other than that Milan is a stunning place so I've heard and a trip to Madrid would be good seeing as though the final is there Where do you think would be good? May 13, 200916 yr I think you'll find after recent events, alot of posters couldn't really give a toss about the CL.

May 13, 200916 yr Author Surely the best way to respond to UEFA is rather than keep crying on about it and being bitter, is to go out and win the damn thing next year. We know UEFA were a bunch of tossers over the whole Ovrebo thing and we know Platini is a dick, but now you're saying we shouldn't give a toss about the Champions League, come on.
May 13, 200916 yr Surely the best way to respond to UEFA is rather than keep crying on about it and being bitter, is to go out and win the damn thing next year. Spot on matey. What happened last week does leave a bitter taste and hurt like f**k for a day or two but now I cant wait for it to start next year. Fingers crossed 2009/10 is our season. JT lifting that trophy is the best v-sign to UEFA we could ever make. Onwards and upwards. As for away trips, im hoping for two next year, havent made one at all for a few years now. Sadly last one for me was Glasgow which doesnt really count! Id take anywhere hot really! Germany is always fun though.
May 13, 200916 yr Yes, we should move on, but right now I don't give a toss about this. I'm gonna be bitter until after the summer, then we'll see. And who knows, after what happened after the game maybe Platini will sieze the opportunity to ban us for a season because we're "such a nasty team". I hope we can play next season but as long as Platini in in charge you never know.
May 13, 200916 yr Author The look on Platini's face if we did play in it and win it next season at the Bernabeu would be priceless :D
May 13, 200916 yr I think you'll find after recent events, alot of posters couldn't really give a toss about the CL. Too right, Bluenut, because at the moment this feels very much like a ‘where would you like to go next to be screwed by UEFA’ type of topic for discussion.
May 13, 200916 yr Author Too right, Bluenut, because at the moment this feels very much like a ‘where would you like to go next to be screwed by UEFA’ type of topic for discussion. Wasn't intended to be :D but if it sparks debate then oh well.
May 13, 200916 yr Too right, Bluenut, because at the moment this feels very much like a ‘where would you like to go next to be screwed by UEFA’ type of topic for discussion. I seem to have reverted to my childhood (a long time ago) because I feel like saying "Well, I don't want to be in your gang anyway, so yah boo sucks to you!"
May 13, 200916 yr We know UEFA were a bunch of tossers over the whole Ovrebo thing and we know Platini is a dick, but now you're saying we shouldn't give a toss about the Champions League, come on. I don't ? We could play the Parsons Green under 7's in the final and still lose .............
May 13, 200916 yr Author I don't ? We could play the Parsons Green under 7's in the final and still lose ............. Suppose you can't change some people's views But seriously, in my opinion (and a lot of the footballing world's opinion) the Champions League is the most prestigious club tournament in the world. Europe is the best continent in terms of the league quality, and I for one would love to see Chelsea at the pinnacle of it one day. Not just because it would rub it in the faces of the scousers and United fans, but because it would mean we had finally made it to the top of football, and that our club would then have done it all. Instead of licking our wounds and whinging and moaning about UEFA (who I hate as much as anyone), lets do our f**king best to win the thing next year - the only way to really get back at Platini and Ovrebo.

Your right you won’t change my views on the competition. I hate the champions league and all it stands for in its present format and really couldn’t give a toss if we never played in it again. This is a long held view and nothing to do with last week’s events. The name itself speaks volumes a “Champions League “ ??? Where you can finish 4th in your own league and not win a title for 18 years but can be crowned Champions of Europe ?? That’s not a champions league ……… . The real reason the club are desperate to win it is f*ck all to do with prestige but how much money they can make off the back of it in new fans , shirt sales and sponsorship

Ive just posted this on the player of the year thread. and im going to copy and paste it here. 'i think we should get on with it rather than acting all hard done by, lets show our strength and dont let the bar stewards grind us down. its been a week now since the barca game and i think we should adopt this attitude rather than giving up and saying entering the champions league is pointless. f**k em all. thats the chelsea way, or at least the one i was brought up with.' I think we need to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down and come out fighting. arsenal on sunday was the perfect response. lets keep it up.

The real reason the club are desperate to win it is f*ck all to do with prestige but how much money they can make off the back of it in new fans , shirt sales and sponsorship Ever wonder why the players take it so seriously and so many fans do, look at the effort made for the atmosphere on European nights at Stamford Bridge. Even against a lesser known side like Cluj, the atmosphere was immense. However in the Premier League do we get atmospheres like that against 'Boro or Bolton? The competition means a lot to most Chelsea fans, and like I said before means an awful lot to the Chelsea players as well. I don't think they'll be going out next season not giving a toss about it like some fans apparently will.

I've never liked the Champions League, and much preferred the old European Cup which really was for Champions only (apart from holders & hosts?). The Champions league sums up all that is wrong with football. Ever wonder why the players take it so seriously Not at all, they get paid extortionate amounts of money, and if they perform well in the CL, there's every chance that they will be spotted by another club who will pay them even more. Cynical, me? Never :nono: :D
May 13, 200916 yr I usually hold the champions league in high esteem. It is very popular in America, second only to the World Cup probably, so I would love for us to win it. Yes money plays a huge part in why the club and players want to be there. Call me crazy, but I think it is a boost for the players to play clubs from other leagues, how often do we get to see Chelsea vs. Barcelona. I think that is something special. Edit -- It should also be mentioned that it makes it that much more shocking when these special events get f**ked up by a referee. Edited May 13, 200916 yr by blueday3
May 13, 200916 yr I don't want to us enter the UEFA Champion's League next season. Instead I want us to compete in the newly formed IFF's, (Intergalactic Football Federation), Federation Interplanetary X-travaganza knockout cup competition. Otherwise know as the FIX Cup. I'd like to meet the Kardasians in the final in the 3,000,000 seater Stellar Stadium on Pluto. I would like Mrs Gertie Henning Ovrebo as ref, and we win 16-15 after two eons of extra time on a dodgy penalty decision. Highly unlikely I know, but probably more realistic than us winning the other UEFA run jobbie.

Whether the Champions League is all that is wrong with football is irrelevant; surely you should care how your club perform in (whether we think it is or isn't) what most people consider the best club competition in the world.

I've supported Chelsea for well over 40 years, and as always I want us to win every game we play. Please don't tell me whether I should care or not, I don't give a flying f*ck what other people believe, I'm quite capable of thinking for myself.

I wasn't telling you to do anything, just from the way you were commenting it didn't sound as if you were arsed how Chelsea performed in the Champions League next season.
May 13, 200916 yr Author I'll add I'm not having a go at any Chelsea fan who does think the Champions League is a farce, just saying my opinion that I think it's a competition well worth winning.
May 13, 200916 yr I damn well care about the Champions League! The fact that we're cheated out of it so consistently just gives me more hunger to win the bloody thing, with all the odds against us. Also, it would shut all the bar steward dippers and mancs up...
