“The doctors did a load of tests and decided to keep him in over the weekend - they have done every scan and test imaginable and diagnosed that he has testicular cancer which has spread up to his brain.

"But the doctors are upbeat about his prospects and chemotherapy will begin right away - big John’s not giving up hope."

If it's spread from his testicles to his brain I dunno what hope there is for the big guy.

Wish him all the best.

Well done BlueBeard and well said -_- , when things like this happen you put aside your differences and wish who ever the person is best wishes . Get well soon big man !

christ it's one of the very last things in the world you would want to happen to someone, good luck to him.

Unfortunately it is not looking hopeful for Hartson. As well as testicular and brain cancer it has now been diagnosed as having spread to his lungs. His condition has been described as critical.

There is no point in telling lies about the fact I thought he was a thoroughly unpleasant character (from the perspective of the way he behaved within the football arena - obviouslyI don't know him personally) however unpleasant people deserve to be put in their place and brought down a peg or three, they don't deserve something as horrific as this.

What has happened to Hartson is terrible and sadly it appears that he needs nothing short of a miracle to recover.

He was no angel on the field - it was him who booted Berkovic, wasn't it? - but he's always come across pretty well off it in his dealings with the Welsh media. I actually rated him as a player - a decent, strong goalscoring CF with a good touch, but he did balloon in his later years and lost his mobility.

This is tragic news to read - shocking how advanced the cancer appears. We can only wish him all the best in the battle he faces.

Like many others I never liked him as a player but you'd never wish this on a person. He's in a critical state and the prognosis does not look good forhim. So quick and so sudden, really puts life into perspective. Live it while you can people.

Hated the clubs he played for and never liked him as a player especially when he scored against Rangers. No-one desrves this and I really do hope he gets better but as we all know cancer doesn't discriminate and if its as bad as it seems, at least tertiary, then he's f**ked, lung and brain cancer do not bode well at all. I lost my lovely sister with late diagnosed and advanced cancer - he and his family are in for a rough ride whatever happens and I wish them all the best and if theres a God they'll need him as well. Hang in John
