The former Under-21 international was heralded as a star of the future but his career stalled on his return to the peninsula. Now after spells at Milan, Bologna, Lecce and Sampdoria, the 28-year-old has today signed for Iralkis. Dalla Bona, who joins the club on loan from Napoli, said: “I know Iralkis well and I want to help out the team. I know that I must give my all to do that. “But this is a good experience for me after my spells in England and Italy.†Dalla Bona, signed by the Azzurri in August 2006 from Milan, has been a fringe player since their return to Serie A and played in just one UEFA Cup game last term.

This was the statement we released when he asked for a transfer: In view of the fact that Sam Dalla Bona has refused to sign an extension to his current contract, stating that he wants to be near his family in Italy, he has now played his last game for Chelsea, He has officially been placed on the transfer list with immediate effect.
