RIP Dolly !

I shared with 4 other people and all thought it was a decent film and except for one, they were all alive and had never heard of her before.

Very sad news about Dolly. A superb performer but even more than that she was a great advocate for improving literacy and getting books to pre-school children and into schools and libraries. Shows the power and importance of books.

Watching the ref count down the seconds the goalie had to take a kick at today's game reminded me of this song. Also reminded me of the introduction to Thunderbirds!

Realised in '77 though Ferry with slicked back hair and glasses looks like a bad stand-in for a George Michael album.

Guess session musicians were slower to change appearance. though agree unusual starting clip for a Ferry video.

It's from 1987, guests (Springsteen, etc) aside, the band was Elvis' last backing band.

It's from a tribute video and album called A Black and White Night. Roy Orbison had a resurgence in the late 80s with the Travelling Wilburys (Dylan, Petty, Harrison and Lynne), a couple of hits including I Drove All Night, and this video with Springsteen and others. Sadly, he died not long afterwards.

Very sadly. He was in his early 50s. Already a life hit by tragedy. Children burned to death in a house fire, wife killed in a motorcycle accident. No one deserves that. Jeff Lynne was one of his champions, resurrecting his career. He was one of the greats.

The documentary on his life is a proper heartbreaker.
