Anelka talks break down ?

Only caught the end of a report on radio concerning Anelka's current pay demands , not sure of the full details and i may have heard wrong but aparantely there are difficulties arising with Nick and the club over his contract and wage negotations . Anybody hear more on this ? Christ i hope the club are not bitching over 10 grand for a player who we depend on .

its amazing how these people in the media have no understanding of the word "negotiation" isnt it. ill help them out:-

the process of discussing something with someone in order to reach an agreement with them, or the discussions themselves

so basically a process where a player asks for a certain amount, the club then come back with a counter offer and they keep "negotiating" to come to an agreement. f**king idiots.

What a load of b*ll*cks, its a very typical example of this sort of article. They always contain the same phrases such as 'a source close to the club', 'players advisors' etc etc

Theres probably some merit, but no doubt the issue is sensationalised. Ron Gourlay has to cut our current wage bill for EUFA fair play standards. Giving everyone a huge raise, and a lot were given out over fear of the transfer bans, not exactly accomplishing that goal. Consider that Chelsea spent £140m on wages alone in 2007-08, and hopefully you can see why we cant be giving out raises nilly willy.

Now 120k a week is over 6 million a year...and we already have what? Terry, Lamps, Drogba, Ballack, ACole, Essien, Carvalho (might be missing some) who are already on that pay level, then add Anelka (deserves) and Joe (not so much) then Malouda wants finiancial parity, and then Bosingwa, wants finiancial parity, then Ivan says hey, Ive done just as good as him, and he wants parity.

We played a dangerous game eagerly giving bonuses to try and ensure we had our players over the span of a possible ban, adn I fear we may be paynig the price. You can not give 1 teammate a big raise without other saying "Oy, what about me?". It turns into a dangerous spiral, and all the more so when you consider almost all our players have clubs watching that will give them those terms.

Weve set a dangerous precedent, and we either have to keep it going, or risk losing a few players while we re establish a precedent of "Your just as lucky to be here, as were lucky to have your talent. We will not be held ransom, your are not unreplaceable. Other clubs might want you, but can they offer you the chance for trophies we can?"

Edit: Some of those listed players are actually well in advance of 120k a week
