Sami Khedira

Featured Replies

from the Sun:

CHELSEA boss Carlo Ancelotti is leading the chase for Germany playmaker Sami Khedira.

The midfielder, 23, has emerged as one of the stars of the World Cup after replacing injured Michael Ballack in the German's side.

And Stuttgart boss Christian Gross is ready to sell his £12million-rated star now rather than lose him on a free when his contract expires next year.

Ancelotti sees Khedira as the perfect man to step into the Blues midfield after letting Ballack, Joe Cole and Deco go.

But he faces a battle with Alex Ferguson who wants Khedira as a replacement for 35-year-old Paul Scholes at Manchester United.

Former Spurs boss Gross admitted: "It would be very painful if Sami left on a free.

"If he has two more great World Cup games, all the big clubs will come for him."

Ancelotti is also weighing up a move for Portugal's tough-tackling Raul Meireles who is up for grabs at £12m.

Porto are set to cash in on the 27-year-old after a £10m swoop for Joao Moutinho from Sporting Lisbon.

The Chelsea boss will raise some of the cash by selling England Under- 21 defender Michael Mancienne, 22, to Wolves for £5m.

Rumour mills are into overdrive today. Schweinsteiger, Torres, Mueller,.........Roman has flown to SA with money on the table. Of the 3 Schweinsteiger's game could be a replacement for Obi Mikel

Good player, reckon we should target him and Ozil as they play for smaller clubs. Would be much easier acquiring these guys than Muller and Schweinsteiger away from Bayern. Khedira seems the unsung hero of the German campaign, been very good

Sorry, but of all the youngish talents on Germany, I thought Khedira was far from the most impresisve. His name is also being linked to Real Madrid, which just shows you how desperate rumor mongers are getting. He isnt nearly hollywood enough for them.

If the Bundesliga clubs all decided to sell these players in the next few weeks, they could really clean up, financially. I bet Hamburg wish they hadve kept Boateng until after the WC

Reckon he would have turned out to be a bit of a Tiago style signing.

Shwinstieger would be great, but Bayern won't sell him.

Reckon he would have turned out to be a bit of a Tiago style signing.

I thought Tiago did quite well when he was at Chelsea. It's just that he figured that when Essien came to the club he wasn't going to be playing very often, so he left.

I stay up with the Bundesliga and have seen Khedira play on a number of occasions for Stuttgart. His role is that of a defensive midfielder. He's a good footballer and deserved to be picked for the German national team in the World Cup.

I believe Ancelotti is in the market for an attacking midfielder. I don't see Khedira coming to the Bridge. It looks as if Real Madrid will sign him.

It's been denied by Stuttgart today. And his agent has apparently said that there will be no news for two to three weeks, as he's on holiday.

I think its just one of those "its in the works" denials.

10 million euros is the fee I have heard. If so, a Mourinho signing if ever there was one. A sturdy, mostly unheralded but effective player. If this is their alternative to Gerrard, I am sure they are only too happy to pay 1/7th the price for a player 7 years younger

They also signed Pedro Leon today for 10 million. Jose is very quietly reshaping that squad. Apparrently he has installed sofa beds at their training complex so that players can take a siesta between morning and afternoon training without going home.

Signed by Real Madrid apparently.

Typical, given the way transfer windows work.

On topic, I'd rather have Raul Mereiles (spelling), as he was mentioned in the article. He's also a more realistic signing than Schweinsteiger, though perhaps not as good.

  • 2 weeks later...

in my opinion he is going to be Metzelder MK 2 ...

If Lass is fit and his problems stop I see him infront of Khedira.

What they need next to Alonso is a good defender, and Khedira isn´t that sort of player. But thats just my opinion..
